At this moment I'm seething in cold fury.
I went to war against Spain, my very close neighbour, and captured their capital. I then entered into a 10 turn peace treaty because I wanted to concentrate on building The Great Library and Parthenon, which I did. I then amassed forces to take two more of Isabella's cities, because the captured capital was being choked to death by culture. However, I became surprised when my chariot refused to enter Spanish territory to destroy their only iron mine as a declaration of war.
I speak to Isabella personally and find no option to declare war, so I see what trade arrangements we have, and discover we have a 10 turn peace treaty! Hmmm, I think to myself - I distinctly remember our ORIGINAL treaty expiring. Just to be sure, I load an auto save some 24 turns earlier, when I was in the middle of building the wonders, and I can declare war at that point.
So here I am, watching archers filling a city I want to take, just knowing that soon they will be longbow because Isabella just has to be on the cusp of Feudalism, and there isn't a God damn thing I can do.
Now that I think about it, in past games I've noticed mystery peace treaties with foreign powers elapsing. I don't remember entering into the treaties.
Please, for the love of all that is sane, how the hell can I enter into a treaty not only without my knowledge, but against my will?
