how many of you wait til uyou get de soto before investigating rumors? I usually do, and cortez as well. That way every rumor yeilds treasure or money or fountains of youth. sometimes i have gotten 8-10 of the SEVEN cities of cibola LOL, and 4-8 fountains! well worth the wait

I dont explore a whole lot any more. But I will usually investage place if I see one. Unless I have like no protection at all tehn I just let them be.

I explore my immediate surroundings as soon as possible to find good colony sites and plan my future expansion. As soon as I get DeSoto I go explore the rest of the map.

I never wait for DeSoto, but then again, it seems I should keep this in mind. ;)

De Soto and Cortez really help with exploration if you can get them early enough. I will investigate the nearest rumours immediately, but wait for De Soto and Cortez. The same goes for attacking the natives (in the case that I am using the Spanish), as I will wait for Cortez so that there will always be loot and free transport of it back to Spain.

Anyway, I also wait for another guy who makes you get the king's galleon transport for free. So you can bring back the whole treasure and its 7000 gold tax free.

Exploring for rumors is good, but I like to wwait until after de Soto and Cortez. Otherwise, it's just not reliable enough.

just kill the Inca's like i have in my game. All together i got some 35-40,000gold from conquering Incas :D

I always investigate 'em, but if it happens to piss off the Indians, that just gives me an excuse to kill them...

De Soto isn't always the first in line when choosing your FF;s. Even if he is, Cortes or Minut is far more of a bargain.
