View Full Version : Any way do DoW on a vassal?
ck07 May 13, 2008, 10:16 PM BtS, Emperor, Terra, 1716. Trying to finish a game via conquest. Forced 4 capitulations, 2 to go. Because no one has settled the other continent yet, domination would take a long time. Space and cultural even further away.
Unfortunately, in addition to the 4 capitulations, earlier I accepted the Germans as a voluntary vassal. Can't find a menu option to DoW on them. Is there a way, or have I hosed myself?
Kawalimus May 13, 2008, 10:24 PM Use worldbuilder. It's the only way. Can you demand a bunch of resources from em? I don't know if that works with a non capitulated. But it might.
JujuLautre May 13, 2008, 10:36 PM why break it? If you vassalize everyone, you win by conquest :)
zombiestomp May 14, 2008, 01:40 AM no. no way.
Everest May 14, 2008, 05:27 AM why break it? If you vassalize everyone, you win by conquest :)Are you sure that counts for voluntary vassals as well?

The Worldbuilder worked; just removed them from vassal status. Nothing else did. Thanks.
Other posters: voluntary vassals do not count toward conquest.
TheMeInTeam May 14, 2008, 11:21 AM Yes, CK07, they do.
When MadScientist stopped on his Rome RPC and started a new on on a huge map, I finished up the summary of the one on the normal map. In that game, Egypt was a voluntary vassal of mine. Not only did I win conquest that way, but I let egypt kill the final nation. So you can, for certain, win conquest with voluntary vassals.
If you really want to fight them, your only hope is to constantly piss them off by demanding resources, which provides a small chance of them deciding to break free. However, if your power rating is much higher its still very unlikely they'll break free...

That doesn't make any sense at all...

...
Interesting. I have personally experienced counterexamples. So it appears that you can both win a conquest V with voluntary vassals and can be denied it despite having all rivals as (some mix of) capitulated and voluntary vassals.
I wonder what the difference depends on ......
tycoonist May 14, 2008, 02:53 PM That doesn't make any sense at all...
why? if they require your protection and have everyone else vassaled/destroyed then it seems reasonable to me.
vicawoo May 15, 2008, 06:02 AM Get another civ to attack them and if they lose a large part of their land they can break off.

sure they do... I've won conquest with vouletary vassals before..
goldenhero May 17, 2008, 05:54 AM Think of it this way, when you vassal someone, they are now on your "team". So, if everyone in the world vassals to you, either voluntarily or involuntarily, there is now only one "team" in the world, which is yours. You should win by Conquest.
