I've tried to install it a few times, but I don't think I have it, since I can never see the glance screen in the foreign advisor. I've checked the Readme, and I'm 85% sure I have the right DLL going into the right folder, but it's not working. If anyone has any idea what I'm doing wrong, I'd like to know.

Hey Krick hows it going!

If you go back to the bhuric dowlaod page and scroll down abit there are some supplementry patches, just a few files to replace, to fix a few issues... one being the glance screen.

PS - hows the SG going? I'm really tempted to check your game but I not allowed!

Why didn't you post this in the unofficial patch thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=246057)?

The first post of that thread is pretty clear. There is a list of game changes (patches/fixes) due to the new CvGameCoreDLL.dll and a list of game changes due to several changes in some python files. The glance screen is linked to the python files and thus you need to install those to get the glance screen back.

Edit: not fast enough. Groogaroo already said the same.

You must not have the right DLL in the right folder bro, because thats all I can think of. Couple questions, first off, which "version" of BTS do you have, the regular expansion separate from the Vanilla version, or the version from Civ IV:Complete?

Regardless of the answer, you need to put the DLL in the C:\Program Files\2K Games\ folder where BTS is installed, NOT the My Docs\My Games\BTS folder where your saves and screenshots are. I have Civ IV Complete, and my Bhruic DLL is in this folder:

C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Assets

If you have the expansion as a separate install, yours is not exactly the same, but its confusing. I didnt install any of the other files, I ONLY use the DLL, but that may be because I have Complete and it installs BTS v3.13 right from the start, no patching required.

I tried the patch, not satisfied. I only tried to run it so I could eliminate that HUGE bug where you can not destroy any buildings with spies unless there is a obelesk in the city (I don't think stonehenge even counts).

There are a few more spy issues that need to be fixed.

Bhruic fixed a lot of issues, but he didn't fix that one (which makes the destroy building mission useless in many cities). However, a fix for it was mentioned in the unofficial patch thread by a poster named Trojan Sheep who had fixed it for his own spy mod and separated this fix from his mod to be used in the original game. You will have to merge it in the CvGameCoreDLL.dll.

Bhruic hasn't been fixing stuff lately. Maybe he thinks the official patch is about to arrive or maybe he has better things to do, I don't know. However, the civ 4 community should be thankful to him for fixing a lot of issues and not critical for not fixing some others.

^^ 100% agreed, the most visible fixes for me are spies not being evicted on declaration, makes it worthwhile to fight this way. I'm also very happy about the trade fix. Ok i made alot of money selling iron for huge profits to AIs who already had iron but it's unrealistic. Resource trading took lots of time pre patch because you had to figure out yourself which resources were really wanted by AI and which not. Now it's all transparent again so i can just concentrate on the game. Bhruic did a fine job :goodjob:.

I wonder why so many people have problems installing this patch btw, i didn't do anything special and it installed without any problemsl.

This was the one that made me get it. It was so annoying to have a spy camped for 4 turns, drop a stack into that "crook" of land thats 1 tile from a border city, and find the spy suddenly in the tile the stack just left!!

Also the Partisan event, that was VERY annoying.

Unfortunately, I don't have the tools or the power here to merge the fix myself. I may just end up quitting Civ IV for the time being, until companies finally decide to fix their own . .. .. .. . they sell. It is bad enough the public has to double back as a PAYING beta tester, but when that organization still has the nerve to do nothing about it even when knowing of the problems, it gets me a little agitated.

Anyhow, if I were going to play again, I wonder... Does that building bug affect only the human player? If not, then all you need to do is only use religion & buildings for culture. Then your buildings are automatically & PERMANENTLY spy proof vs ANY A.I., all the way to turn #500.

This should be documented under "Absusive exploits vs the AI"

Unless Bhruic is now working (maybe even for money) with Firaxis on the next official patch which will cover most of his unofficial patch (and hopefully some other stuff such as spies sabotaging buildings).

Speculation is easy. Guess we'll find out some time.

Its possible they are dragging their feet with an "official" patch until they can get everything they want fixed into one big final fix. After all, when you have a community as active as this one doing much of the work for you, why actually pay employees to do it?

Note, I dont agree with that line of reasoning, I am just offering a possible answer to the "they are aware of most of the problems, why arent they "officially" fixing it?"

From what I see , especially in the C&C section of civFanatics, the Firaxians now and them are asking permission for using some scripts and mod features in the next patch.. So I assume that the work is not dead. But from there to a big working patch it may go a big while, and considering that Firaxis is having a bumpy ride in this days due to the EA hostile takeover attempt to Take2....

But that is not a issue for this forum ;)

As far as I know, this bug denies anyone the possibility to destroy buildings in cities which don't contain the cheapest building constructed by that civilisation. Whether that is the cheapest building constructed or the cheapest building available, I don't know. It makes a difference, because your immunity would not work if it was the cheapest building constructed.

I myself merged this spy fix into Bhruics unofficial patch. But I also made another tiny modification in the CvGameCoreDLL.dll which might not be interesting to people as it is not a bug fix but a tiny game rule change. It's not that hard to merge this, but it does take some time to do so if you've never done this before as you'll have to read a long post about how to do this. And you'll need some minimum level of experience with computers or it will seem an insurmountable task to do.
