For the reason listed below I can't play the turn session. Are you up for it DS? Anyone else?

I just thought about it I don't think I can do the turnchat. How do you guys chat and play the turns at the same time? 2 Computers? I have only one .

Open BTS (in windowed mode) and mIRC at the same time. Works for me, though it's a bit slower.

What is windowed mode? Sorry I am quite the novice when it comes to computers. Someone else can play the turns and I'll make sure next time I offer to do a turnchat I know what the hell I am doing  .

If you go into options, then click the graphics tab, then there is an option called Full Window Mode which will be checked, uncheck it, quit CIV 4 completely and reload the save, then you should be able to mimize the screen when you need to. If you still can't do it then just play the turns on your own, or if you want i could do it tonight (may have to be posted tomorrow morning)

Or go into the INI file (my documents->my games-> ...) and look for the fullscreen mode setting. The "ask" setting will even let you choose every time the game is launched.

; Specify whether to play in fullscreen mode 0/1/ask
FullScreen = ask

I would have set up a session a couple of days ago, but some urgent RL intervened.

Whichever of us actually starts playing please post a "got it" to make sure we don't have multiple people playing.

We have a problem, monarchy cannot be researched, mediation and presithood would have to be researched first and would take in total 22 turns, i am not going to play until 11 BST, so if no-one objects then i will play the approx 22 turns tomorrow.

Grr...

I specifically asked if Monarchy was the next thing to research, and got a yes. I wouldn't have supported the move otherwise. :( Guess I should have checked the save myself.

Also I noticed there's no link to the starting save.

Looks like we are stuck between a rock and a hard place. I didn't check the save either so I wasn't aware of the prerequisites. I just copy/pasted KWP's tech path. Should we run through the required techs to get Monarchy or are we all sick of the 1 gov't civic faction rule and make an exception for this time in hopes to save the integrity of the game.

Thanks guys for the help on the window issue. Kinda feel like a dumby :( but it led me to go through all of the options and tweak them to my liking.

The available trades are pretty heavily against us. I guess we push on anyway, and just research the pre-reqs. Sorry about my negativity earlier.

I bet certain people are just biding their time so they can splash in with a new HR based faction. Or they quit and didn't even have the decency to say they were going.

That's the approach I would take. It's been way, way too long since the last TC, so I'm kinda viewing this one as no instructions given to the DP. Have fun with it, and keep up on the right path (aka -beeline research path).

I've had a look at the save, and I must ask:

WHAT'S THE PLAN?

Seriously, we look like we have absolutely no idea what we're going to do. Are we going to attack Spain? Then where is our army? Are we going to expand peacefully? Where are our settlers and workers in the build queues? Are we just going to sit here, with 4 cities, and lose?

We need to do something to save this game.

Hold on people!

We wanted an interregnum, and we got one. Joe got us to Monarchy in blitzkreig fashion! 14 turns rather than 22 is very good in my book.

Only 15 or so votes this time in the election.

When does the PF election close?

My humbe apologies about the Monarchy tech issue. If you want to yell at someone, then yell at me. It was my bust. I was so excited about so many other details that I forgot to look deep enough into prereqs for Monarchy.

Sorry all. Where do we go from here?

I would suggest that we close the election poll. APR takes the victory, and we move on. Most people in my faction have finals to attend to, and I have allot going on at work and with my family and my house, etc...

The people voicing themselves in this poll are the most active I think. Many of our population are college students or people who have settled down with their lives and professionals. College students are undergoing final exams, and will no doubt soon be off to summer vactations. I think we have to tollerate a slow down in the warmer months.

If we end the elections now, I could get instructions rolling for a play chat on Wednesday, and hopefully, another by Friday.

I'm going to level with you. My strength in this community is right here, on the forum, building coallitions and bringing the right people together, and leading them. Unfortunately, I also have a major weekness potentially. I cannot commit to live play chats :( Obviously, I cannot play the game while at work. By the time I get home, it's a mad rush of work preparing dinner, helping with homework, then getting the kids to bed, not to mention walking our dog. By then, we're talking 9PM EST.

I love this game, and I squeeze time in where I can, mostly on weekend mornings when I wake up before the kids. It's funny how we all find ways to tend to our addictions, lol.

But seriously, if my weekness is going to damage this DG much further, then I will immediately step down. My main motivation for taking on more of a leadership roll was to keep things rolling.

We need to probably seriously regroup the population, find out who's still in it for the long haul, and depend on those people to forge a plan for the way forward. I'm thinking we're down to about 20 people, who will participate in discussions and story lines here. Is that enough population to support factions?

I'm game for going along, and I feel that changing the faction aspect now is only going to derail this DG much more so than it already may be.

Again, I think we should all be happy with Joe stepping up and getting us through Monarchy so quickly. Now, let's get on with the rest of it!

~kwp Hoping to continue.

I agree. Seems we have won the election and should get organized before the next turn session. We should appoint Citizens to positions of responsibility. We also need to update the Faction under HR. Lets not make the mistakes of the past. I have some extra time over the next few days so I'll help you with anything that needs done.

You can set the screenshot format (JPG/TPG/PNG I guess?) in your options screen, somewhere...

Thanks for the help Dutch, so it is the type of file I am using that may be causing this? The weird thing is it only happens on certain screenies. Then if I give it 2 or 3 tries one will usually make it through. Oh well it's just a pain in the rear having to pop the task manager to check which screenies made it, over and over. Some times no matter how many times I do a screenshot it just won't work  !

Lord Civius, I had no idea you were having so much trouble. I'm sorry. I don't mess with paint. It's too much of a hassle. I downloaded the 20/20 program way back, probably 2002, and have used it for all of my Civfanatics uploads.

Go to byLight.com, I believe it is, and d/l 20/20. Instalation is easy. In File/Preferences, choose as Capture key your Printscreen, and below that, capture with Mouse Pointer. That way you can choose exactly what you want to capture and save. Save you files as JPG, and maybe create a special folder for them. It's really easy with a small footprint.

If you try it and have any questions, let me know. There are so many options, you can basically do what you want.

Is the program you spoke about the LightScribe?
(the computer's store installed it on my computer,
but I don't know what it does).
My thanks in advance.

Hi, fed1943. No, the 20/20 program is a graphics utility that let's you capture and edit/alter most any pic. Your LightScribe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LightScribe) program is for etching or burning labels ono your CDs/DVDs after your burn data/music onto them. Looks like a nice program.

It's actually byLight Technologies. It's easier to pick it up from other sites as a download as it was pretty popular in it's day. Check your PMs.
