it is graphically treeleafy feature, so you would use this art entry for any custom XML stuff

Hey I see you're a Visa member. I believe your mod has sea bases, is that correct? I'm wondering, does the AI build sea bases and sea terrain improvements in your mod? The AI doesn't in Planetfall at the moment, so it would be neat to know how to make them do so.

There's a bunch of stuff that could be done. I've attached a list at the end of this post. There's even much more than that list which could be done. But I'm a gameplay designer, no graphical artist. So while I see the need for new graphics on many places, I have often no inspiration myself how they could/should looke like.

Anyway, if I had to pick one thing off this list, perhaps the specialist buttons? (I heard editing gamefont.tga is much harder, so start with the 'simple' things I guess?)

Btw, since you didn't seem to know how Kelp looks and were unfamiliar with the Pholus Mutagen secret project movie, I'm wondering. Do you own SMAC, or did you used to be a SMAC player?

If you don't, I guess you don't have any original SMAC graphical files, or for instance don't know what I mean with 'Cult pink'?


* Buttons - Specialists

Buttons needed for: Empath, Engineer (+ Great Specialist), Merchant (+...), Chaplain, Librarian

For the normal specialists the background should be either transparent, or the same as in SMAC (eg see the Empath). For Great Specialists the usual star should be added to the left upper corner.

Empath - same as in SMAC
Engineer - as the Engineer in snipperrabbitt!!'s (sn!'s) "new set of specialists", but without the yellow/golden-striped background. Transparent background needed instead.
Merchant - no preference here; many suggestions have been made already, but none gave me a "That's it!" feeling
Chaplain - as the Chaplain in snipperrabbitt!!'s (sn!'s) "new set of specialists", but without the yellow/golden-striped background.
Librarian - as the Librarian in snipperrabbitt!!'s (sn!'s) "new set of specialists", but without the yellow/golden-striped background.

Unfortunately these buttons as displayed on the pics below were AFAIK never made available for download.

* Gamefont.tga - New "partly eaten bread leaf" icon needed

A replacement for the "partly eaten bread leaf" which represents food consumption would be neat. Possibility could be the apple with a red minus in the upper left corner of the picture below.

* GameFont.tga - Planet icon

Two new icons should be added to GameFont.tga and GameFont_75.tga, representing positive Planet and negative Planet.

Positive Planet = green heart (think of the Centauri Empathy tech icon)
Negative Planet = red heart

I believe they should be added to the right of the Power icon in the lower right corner.

* Gamefont.tga - Flowering Counter icon

Suggestion for icon to use: this recoloured in Cult-pink/purple and (a shrunked version of course) to be put somewhere* in Gamefont.tga.
I believe they should be added to the right of the Power icon in the lower right corner. Or if there's no place there anymore because of the Planet icons, under the happy face?

As the title says, what would be needed is:
1) a button
2) put in gamefont.tga as an icon replacing the Judaism religion

i dont think so, all you should keep are the tree leafys

btw: i am a SMAC-tard. i have beaten smac and wont play it again until this mod is done :worship:

Yes the Ai builds sea cities and tunnels in ViSA. We borrowed the code from Genetic Era mod, and Vince worked in the SDK to make the AI functional also. You can check our code no problem.

im assuming cult pink has to do with that horid pink on all the old texture files?

I mean the pink/purple faction colour of the Cult of Planet. It can be found in the lower left corner of fungboy.pcx

I think it's possible to add and use new icons to the game as long as they're defined in the SDK and put on the right place in gamefont.tga. But I could ask an SDKer first to be absolutely sure.

Btw, the mod already includes a gamefont.tga (and _75). Do you have them, or shall I attach them here?

Are the uncompiled SDK files included in the ViSa download?
Or even better, is there perhaps a download of only the SDK files?
(Yeah I know I'm pushing my luck here, but I can only download 10 GB per month, and I have to restrain myself to stay under it all the time. :( )

@Maniac here i zipped the visa sdk, does that help you out? Also its hosted on Sourceforge in a svn repository. You would need a Subversion net client, like Tortoise svn, but i dont know if that will help you or not.

Thanks for the files! Why are there two though? Vanilla and Warlords or so?

As I'm not an SDKer myself, I can't really judge myself if it will help us out. :mischief: I am sure it will though. :goodjob:

Wow, I jus looked at Maniac's graphics there. Those all look really cool. I'm not too pumped bout the suggested colors for the flowerin counter icon. I'd use somethin like green or red. I really like the Cybernetic Consciousness icon (or the startin point icon anyway). The Voice of the Planet icon is wicked awesome. Keep up the good work, ppl.
