Civanator Jul 20, 2002, 02:54 PM This map is a standard size continent 8 civ map.
You start the game off normally with a settler & worker or/and scout. The one thing differant is that you also start off with pikemen. The pikemen are located on some mountains at the mouth of your "safety area". Just as long as your pikemen stand nothing can get to your cities.
Also in this map their are ton's of barb camps. Their are 3 dif levels which decide how many barbs their are.
1 = Easy
2 = Medium
3 = Hard
*This scenario is also under constant construction too.

Civanator Jul 21, 2002, 07:32 PM In this game, not all nations are created equal. Some small AI nations are set up quite well on their little continents, and you're going to have to unseat them if you're going to win. And then you'll have to take on the Romans, sitting pretty in the middle of the massive continent to the north. But the Romans are playing on Deity, so you might just have a chance...
You can play 5 different nations:
Greece: With 1 city and a small army, you'll need to conquer the Egyptians to forge your nation.
America: With 1 city and a large army, you'll need to conquer the stronger Aztecs to forge your nation, but you do have some barbarian help.
Russia: You have a settler. Get started.
China: You have a settler. Get started.
England: You have two cities on your own island... way out in the ocean. So you'll be a little bit behind when you finally meet some people!
This scenario uses "Billingsley's Rules" built into the bic, and has a few extra tweaks. So in summary:
* Military units get expensive to maintain in modern governments
* Barbarians really hurt
* The space race has been made more interesting -- you need Manufacturing Plants to build some components, and that means Robotics
* There is an extra government type "Capitalism". It's a bit of a toy, but can be handy in some circumstances, especially for giving outlying cities a production kickstart.
Plus (for this scenario):
* Resources won't move, and there aren't enough to go around (and some nations have a complete monopoly!)
* There's one AI nation that can't escape their continent -- at least not by sea.
Good luck!

Civanator Jul 21, 2002, 08:01 PM Interesting, should have disabled Zululand in the first place, unless Red Hawk wants the player to try them.
Hi there,
this is a Scenario on Colonization. You have to explore the land on the other side on the planet to get modern strategic and luxury resources.
The rules have been slightly changed (more hitpoints, faster ships, etc.)
The main land contains of 7 Civs and there is a smaller Civ in the "Colonization area". Be aware of Barbs in the new World.
The Zulus should not be played.
Have Fun

Civanator Jul 24, 2002, 10:49 AM Mike DelPrete’s World War II Scenario - Beta
Summary
Take command of the Allied forces across Europe and the Pacific at the height of World War II. With the Germans at the gates of Moscow and Japan threatening British India, only solid strategic thinking on your part can save the free world.
Scenario Notes
This scenario has been designed with playability in mind. Therefore, several concessions have been made:
1) The planet is not entirely colonized. Only major cities of strategic importance are included. While including every major city was possible, the micromanagement involved would have been prohibitive to gameplay and balance.
2) Neutral nations have been omitted for this release. Adding additional nations multiplies game balance issues, and brings up diplomatic concerns, so thorough testing is going to be required.
3) All nations involved in the conflict have been lumped into the Axis and Allied powers. This was necessary due to the diplomatic limitations of the current editor.
4) The game must be played from a saved game, not as a scenario.
5) For this beta release, only the Allied powers are playable. After further testing, the Axis powers will be playable as well.
Rules Changes
* Changed attributes of some early wonders to function as a Forbidden Palace. These wonders have been placed in capital cities to combat corruption as a local seat of government.
* Research times have been dramatically increased. This reflects the longer scope of the war and puts more emphasis on choosing a specific direction.
* “We love the King” days have been disabled.
* Settlers have been disabled.
Credits
This scenario is based off Kal-El’s world map.

Civanator Jul 24, 2002, 10:59 AM Here it is, finally up.
Trip's United States Civil War scenario v1.03 is now complete and ready for download.
This may seem obvious, but since there aren't diplomacy options, make sure you declare war on the other side on the first turn. I've forgotten to do that plenty of times while playtesting it, and wondered "hey, why isn't the Union attacking me"?
The File is about 3 MB in size, so non-broadband users be patient.
PLEASE READ THE README.TXT FILE INCLUDED IN THE SCENARIO FOLDER.
It contains some valuable information, and if you skip it, you may be sorry later on, so spend 5 minutes and read the darn thing alright?
To install, just follow these directions:
Download the .ZIP, then go into your Civ 3\Text\ folder. Right-click on the file "Civilopedia.txt", then uncheck where it says "Read-Only". Then with an up-to-date version of WinZip (I have v8.0), extract the .ZIP into your Civ 3 folder. It will overwrite nothing except your 'Civilopedia.txt' and 'Pediaicons.text' files, which is no problem if you're not using modified versions of those files. If you are, make back-ups of them first. After you've extracted the .ZIP, then everything will be ready for you to play. Go into Civ 3, select 'scenarios', find the folder and .BIC, and you're set to play.
Right now the Civilopedia on all the units and techs is not functioning, do not try to open them up in the Civilopedia or your game will crash. I may add Civilopedia support later on, but that's for another version, another day.
Anyways, I think that's about it. Hope everyone enjoys the scenario! Send feedback to GuardianOfTime@hotmail.com, or PM Trip.
My next project will probably be a scenario about Napoleon. We'll see when I can get started on that.
New Version 1.04
The problem of the massive money shortage has been fixed. You will now make more cash.

Civanator Jul 24, 2002, 11:02 AM I've made a scenario with all 16 civs included. Each civ has 5 towns that are spread out over one large continent. This means that your civ will have 5 towns that are not near each other. The ability to build more settlers has been disabled. You will have to build lots of colonies to survive. You can build the Forbidden Palace immediately as I've set the optimal # of cities to 10. The corruption levels have been lowered a little, too.
I'm not too sure if setting the optimal # of cities to 10 is a good idea. If you capture more than 10 cities then corruption might get out of hand. You can change it in the bic. Let me know what you think.

Future Scenario (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=28044)
Civanator Jul 26, 2002, 09:58 AM The basis of the scenario is that you, along with the other 3 civs (tiny map) start off on a mountain island with a galley next to your settler/worker. Since you can't build your first city here, you need to get on the provided galley, and follow one of the paths to a new continent. The pathes are marked by coast, so the gallys can travel.
This, however, starts you with an early choice. Do you attack another galley? This could either guarentee the doom of another civ, or yours. And if you do sucessfully attack, will some one else attack your weakened galley?
Give this a try, you'll like it.
Barbarian activity set to roaming, just to give you a chance.

Civanator Jul 27, 2002, 02:41 PM It's about a a Civil War infantry Unit and a Civil War battery that was some how transported to a very strange and different world. They where on thier way to South Carolina to engage in operations there. While on the way the ship they where on was pulled into a vortex that brought them to this world. Most of the current inhabitants are early middle ages techs. You obviously start out eith the ability to build everything i deemed to be in the civil war. You start out near one of the current civs with only a rifleman (35th Infantry), a canon battery (44th New York Artillery), and a setttler for creating a city.

Civanator Jul 27, 2002, 02:49 PM Originally posted by GodsPetMonkey
What this does is it focuses on combat and combat alone. Its urban warfare, so rather then moving forces around on a grand scale, your dealing with more with micromanagement of units within a city (or at least, as close as I can get to a city with a whole 5 mins of map construction). Don’t ask why I bothered to make this, like I said, it was a boring lecture, and I had just installed the 1.29f patch on my laptop.
A detailed rundown;
1) Terrain.
(a) Plains are now Roads, and have a -50% bonus to defence.
(b) Grassland is now Open Space and gives a 0% bonus to defence.
(c) Hills are now Rubble, gives a 50% bonus to defence and a movement cost of 2.
(d) Mountains are now Building Exteriors, giving a 200% defence bonus, and will use up all remaining movement points.
(e) Desert is now Building Interior, giving a 100% defensive bonus, and a movement cost of 2.
2) The time period is roughly WWII, so only Infantry, Marines, Tanks, Paratroopers and Artillery are available, and each has its own distinctive role.
3) You base camp is where you receive (that is build) re-enforcements.
4) Each unit now has the bombard ability, to simulate the fact that this is a battlefield and all the units are ranged.
Known Problems;
1) The AI wasn’t designed for this kind of game, therefore it wont work miracles, but it doesn’t seem to do too badly (he does love to rush y base camp)
2) As I said, with out a SDK, there is very little chance of removing the no longer needed Civ3 elements. One of these is of course cities, with out one, its game over, so one need to be there. Luckily I can cover this discrepancy by allowing 'base camps' where re-enforcements are built. Sadly this cant be done with other game elements.
3) I seem to have been able to eliminate the need to research technologies (well, it hasn’t prompted me to choose a new tech recently). But DO NOT go to the science advisor. You can if you want, but I warned you.
4) actually, just don’t use the advisors at all; they seem to cause random crashes (although the military advisor seems to work fine). It’s probably because they are really angry at me from making them useless
5) Artillery seems to be bugged. I have tried to give it infinite bombardment range, but it does do any damage. Oh well. Anyone know how to fix this?
6) You can shoot straight through buildings, yeah, I know, not very realistic, but hey, game limitation, Civ3 really isn’t meant to simulate combat on this level.
7) The map is just plain bad. Not my fault, now if I had any drawing skills, I would make some custom terrain, then I would get a map of some city, and base it off that, but hey, I'm not THAT creative. If you want, you can make a map, and maybe some custom terrain, then I shall include it, and you will even get credited for it, how nice of me!
Final Notes;
I haven’t really had much time to test this for bugs, so really it’s still in very early beta stages (only because you never publicly test alpha versions ). If you decide to play it, and find a bug, tell me, I'll add it here, and give you credit.
Also, maybe some person with talent will want to rip off my idea, and if that’s you, I hope you’re proud of yourself, but there isn’t much I can do to stop you, so go ahead. Actually, the only justifiable reason for posting this was so some mod maker might find it useful.

Civanator Jul 29, 2002, 08:08 AM The world is divided this way:
European Union- European Union, Australia and New Zealand
North America- USA, Canada and Jerusalem
Latin America
Russia
China
India
Japan- Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan and Jakarta
Arab Nations
Black Africa(I couldnt think of a better name)-all of the non-arab african nations
This is only v.1, so there may be lots of errors. The tech tree(specially the african one) is not perfect.

Civanator Jul 29, 2002, 08:12 AM Originally posted by Justus II
Well, I don't claim any credit for originality, but here is my first scenario. I actually started this as more of an experiment, to learn how to use the editor. Anyway, it is as nearly as possible a literal translation of the Civ II Rise of Rome scenario from the CD into Civ III. I give credit to TrueLight, from Apolyton, for posting the Mediteranean Sea map, which was a pretty nearly exact rendition of the Civ II map.
I then went in and edited the civs to match the seven of the original scenario (Rome, Carthage, Macedonian, Ptolemian, Seleucid, and Independent Greeks, and Celts). Every city is placed in the same tiles as the original, and most roads/improvements are also the same. (Some slight changes to ensure they have at least one luxury, horses, or whatever resources they needed). Also, all units are in the same starting locations, with a few modifications, for unique units. Greeks and Macedonians have Hoplites, Carthage and Seleucid have Elephants, (and a couple strays thrown in), Ptolemy have a 3.1.2 War Chariot, and the Celts have a 3.1.2 Rider unit instead of all the chariots that the scenario gave them. (when did the celts use chariots?).
I also replaced all settlers and caravans with workers, and diplomats with scouts (to make contact with other nations). Obviously, we can't edit diplomacy yet, so you will start out at peace/no contact with all other nations, to be fair you should declare war on the independents the first turn. (Pyrrus has already landed at Taras, after all).
It is currently set up as a scenario, with Rome as the human player and the other six already selected. You can edit the .bic to select another player as the active (human) player, I have tested it as Carthage and Macedonian, but the original was designed for the Romans.
The big caveat, as it was in the original, is the Tech Tree. I did not modify it at all (yet ), and in the Civ II version most civs had almost all the ancient techs, except Iron Working, so they start in the Medieval age. Most of the other tribes actually start with Astronomy (which allows sea trade, and a carry over from Civ II). I have slowed down the rate of tech advances, but I intend to revamp the tech tree to create some new units and things to work for.
As I mentioned, feel free to play around with this, it was mostly my way of learning the editor so I can work on a more detailed Roman scenario. Let me know if you find any bugs/wierd events/etc. I tested it on Emporer level, and did reduce the barb. bonuses and the starting units for the other races.
Have fun!
(BTW, this is just the .bic file, it only uses existing units/leaders/graphics etc. so there are no other files to download - I will get more involved with my other scenario)
Version 1.1 Update
Corrected a few Unique Unit problems with the greek civs, this should be the complete list.
ROME: Caesar
UU: Legionary 3.1.1
CARTHAGE: Hannibal
UU: War Elephant 4.1.2
MACEDONIAN GREEKS: Antigonus
UU: Hoplite 1.3.1
PTOLEMAIC GREEKS: Cleopatra
UU: War Chariot 3.1.2
SELEUCID GREEKS: Antiochus
UU: War Elephant 4.1.2
INDEPENDENT GREEKS: Hiero
UU: Hoplites 1.3.1
CELTS: Vercingetorix
UU: Rider 3.1.2
Notes:
Units: There are a couple of extra War Elephants thrown in (Phyrrus has one, for example)
but they cannot be built by the other civs.
Leaders: I kept Cleopatra to match up with the leader animation, and she was a decendant of
the Ptolemy line. Other leaders are matched with who they are based on, so Hannibal is
Shaka (I know Carthage is really a phoenician city, but I ran out of middle eastern leaders)
Antigonus is Hammaurabi, Antiochus is Xerxes, Hiero is Alexander, and Vercingetorix is
Bismark.
Tech: The only changes are that Iron Working is no longer required to move to the middle
ages, since only the Romans have it at start, while all the hellenistic societies have
Astronomy (gives ability to trade by sea, the closest counterpart to the old Seafaring and
Trade techs). Also, only Rome, Carthage, and Macedon have Republic. Many civs did not
have Philosophy, but since they have techs beyond that, they have it now. As I mentioned,
the Tech Tree still needs to be redone.

Soon to come, new civs, and leaderheads if people can get them for me then. Also some regiments will be named for historical accuracy , also ship names etc then. Also soon to come are new playable civs. ok then. cya then.
The Mexican- American war could happen even though its not in time gap. I just thought it was near enough then.

Version 1.1, i corrected some errors about starting w/ the AI w/ the wrong capitals, it has been corrcted
Here is my WW2 map, well i think is better than my other WW3 scenario , much batter, is based to start on Dec 1938, since the map editor cant let me do it so it starts on 1938 instead of 4000 bc, adn doesnt uncovers the map, i put an explorer of all 7 nations in switzerland so u can have fast communication and trade maps, i think is accurate to the maginot line, but if there is something that i should add tell me, so i can change it.
map from "el mencey" was used w/ permision.
well dont forget to come back and tell me if u liked it and vote on the poll.
HAVE FUN.

Requires version 1.29f of Civilization III
-------------
How to start with a different Civilization: see below!
-------------
This scenario is based on the world map already made by Zach Wilson.
As I speak, there are 192 countries in the world.
Dividing them into a number which playable for Civ3 is a tough job therefore. Some countries which just separated from their big neighbour are here back together again. Some big ancient old enemies are in the same "Civilization" now. Though some of you might see that as an error or perhaps even an insult, it is inevitable. What I wanted to achieve was to modelate the current status of this world. This isn't characterized by small wars between countries of which we could care less (although we should), but by a near worldwide peace.
I was disappointed when I noticed that the editor of Civ3 does not give the opportunity (yet) to set up relations between different Civilizations. However, I was happily surprised that (in the beginning) no one would dare to go to war with anyone else, and that's just what I wanted to set up, so no big deal. Only America and Arabia might have war now in Civ-terms, but the rest is all piece and tranquility anyway.
Nevertheless, it's most fun to start with Africa on a difficulty lower than you're used and then rule the world!
One last thing: do *not* learn your topography with this scenario. It's very inaccurate, but I didn't want to use the name Kamalazoo when Detroit is only 250 km away. (Which is only an example. There are much worse cases.)
-------------
How to start with a different Civilization:
Start the Civ3 editor (Civ3Edit).
Go to "Player Properties".
Scroll the most upper drop-down menum where it says "Player 1", *not* the "Civilization" drop-down menu.
Search for the player which has the Civilization you want to play.
Click on the check-box "Human Player". It will ask you for a confirmation, click on "Yes".
Click on "Ok", save it and exit. Then start the scenario and you will start as your loving Civ.
Why one has to preselect your wanting Civ with the editor and not when starting the scenario:
Because both money and technology is designated to a specific player and not a Civilization. It was possible to make it so that one could choose the Civ when starting the scenario, but then you'll always start with the same amount of money and technology, which makes the scenario highly inaccurate. Africa isn't quite as far as America, unfortunately.
Finally: I'm sorry it takes so long to load the scenario, but again that's out of my hands. But I'm quite confident there will come another patch for Civ3 some day to eliminate this tedious waiting.
Have fun!!
Matrix
Added: I wish to send this scenario to Firaxis, therefore I wish some people to test it. I think you won't be bored...once the scenario is loaded.

This scenario is inspired in the novel "The Warlord Chronicles". It takes place in Britain, around the year 400. Some of it is history, and some of it is legend. You are Arthur, King of the british kingdom of Dumnonia. Arthurs dream was to unify the british kingdoms, and take back the lands stolen by the Saxons. The land the Saxons occupie is known as Lloegyr, wich means "lost lands". I included some famous people from the legend, such as the knights Lancelot, Sagramor and Agravain, the swordsmans Percival and Derfel, and the Great Leader Merlin.
Britain is divided this way:
Dumnonia
Gwent
Powys
Siluria
Kernow
Ireland
Lloegyr
Dumnonia and Gwent are the kingdoms with the greater infra-structure, because they are the ones the romans colonized the most. Lloegyr was once civilized, but now it is ruined under the rule of the Saxon barbarians. There are lots of barbarians in Scotland and Ireland.
I modified the rules quite a bit. The minimum time for a tech discovery is 50 turns, because the scenario takes place in the beginning of the Dark Ages. A settler costs 5 food, because there werent many new cities back then.
A good thing about this scenario is that it loads quickly.

Hawaiian Islands Scenario
My apologies if any of this doesn't work correctly, this is my first attempt at a map or scenario. (If it's messed up, please let me know what I need to fix.)
The scenario allows you to play as an emerging civilization on Kauai, Oahu, Maui, or North or South Hawaii.
Most of the standard rules are retained, changes are mostly limited to names.
The map, including water depths, are fairly accurate, providing historical effects such as the relative isolation of Kauai.
While you have a choice of five civilizations, it is perhaps most interesting to play as Kamehameha (as the North Hawaiians), the king who united most of the islands, or as Kaumualii of Kauai, using the island's isolation to develop in peace.

Here is the readme from the game. I think it explains just about everything. Feel free to offer you coments and suggestions. If you want a version of the map with just the cities to make your own scenario you can e-mail me.
The 21st Century
Scenario by James Ferguson (jinif)
The inspiration for this scenario was given to me by a civ2 scenario called the 20th century.
I am trying to give a acurate representation of the world now (well kind of, I put my own spin on things).
The map I used is based on the Civ2 world map, I am not sure who made it though. The map is not
very big, I think it is standard size
In this Scenario you can play as The North American Alliance (USA, Canada, Isreal), European Union
(Western Europe, Australia), Latin American Alliance (Central America, South America, Carribean),
Russia (Russia, former Soviet Republics), Union of Muslim Nations (North Africa, Turkey, Middle East,Pakistan), India, China, South East Asian Defence Pact (Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, Indonesia),Sub-Saharan African Union (Most of Sub-Saharan Africa), Japanese Economic League (Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Phillipines)
I also changed the rules a lot in this scenario, so I will list some of the bigger things that I changed, you can look up the specifics in the rules: Increased Naval movement, increased maintenance costs for advanced city improvements, 3 new governments (Muslim Fundamentalism, Transitional Democracy, Military Republic), I got rid of Nuclear Weapons because I want all warfare to be conventional, I changed the names and effects of some wonders of the world (For example I dont see how the Pyramids give egypt graneries in all its cities, but it does attract tourists, so I made its effect to be to increase tax revenue), the space race has been disabled, made Uranium a required resource for modern armor (replacing Alluminum). You should take a quick glance through the rules when you play so that you know some of the changes.
North American Alliance: This was formed after NATO dissolved as an alliance system for the United States. It includes Canada and Isreal the two US allies.
European Union: This alliance was made by the western Democracies, and was militarily solidified to protect against a newly militant Russia.
Russia: Russia has become more aggresive in trying to regain the empire it lost when the Soviet Union collapsed. It was able to strongarm Poland and Ukraine back under its control, and quickly invaded and took over Kazakstan and the other "stan" countries south of it under the guise of "fighting terrorism".
Union of Muslim Nations: This alliance was formed following the muslim outrade over the assasination of Sadam Hussien by the United States. Muslim leaders met in a coference in Bahdad and soon came up with a plan for a strong military alliance as a way to counter threats from Isreal and India.
Latin American Alliance: This alliance was started when a Brazilian generalisimo took advantage of economic chaos in Argentina to take control of the government there. Soon other countries in latin America were joining the alliance between these two powers in order to appease the Brazilian generalisimo. Resisting such actions of unifications are the Zapatistas in Mexico, FARC in Colombia, Tupac Amaru rebels in Peru, and numourous armed indian tribes in the Amazon known collectively as "Free Amazon".
South East Asian Defence Pact: Although called a "Defence Pact", this alliance is really more of a way for the countries to make a higher profit when selling their rubber to the rest of the world. The Khemer Rouge in Cambodia has made a small uprising that needs to be dealt with.
Sub-Saharan African Union: Led by South Africa this Union of African countries was partly in responce to the Muslim Unification, and partly to try and get Africa on its feet and into the 21st century with the rest of the world.
Japanese Economic League: Quite the opposite of the "South East Asian Defence Pact", this agreement is less of a economic one and more of a military one. After Japan and Korea decided not to join in the US aliance, the United States helped set up this alliance to try and ward off Chinese aggresion. Japan is begining to rearm itself to try an make a attack by China as costly as possible, but it need more natural resources.
China: China is looking greedily toward Japan and South Korea as a way to try and make money as it will be in debt soon if it does not get more money. China also likes the idea of trying to take away the natural resources of South East Asia. China also has to deal with a uprising of militant Buhdist Monks in Tibet. Also large numbers of a Mongolian Cult have taken control of Mogolia trying to reclaim the days of Mogol horde domination on horseback, it is unclear on what they are going to do however.
India: India is trying to maitain a large army in order to defend itself against an attack by the Muslim Union, however the large army is putting a strain on the Indian bank account.

all 8 civs start w/ 12 cities each, defended by the civs special unts(all are of the ancient age to be balanced)
no settlers allowed so u have to take cities form others
basic roads
8 workers for all civs at start
only ways to win are conquest and diplomaticy
well all tahts about it ^_^ so is a big military campain, resourses and luxuries are placed so that each civ has control of at least one world supply of each one, so trade is important.
oh and in civs like persia there is only one immortal defending it cus is expensive, and in civs like aztec 2 jaguar warriors are placed instead of one cuz they are cheaper.
well come back and tell me waht u think
NOTE : THIS SCENARIO IS HARD, EVEN IN WARLORD! I TRIED IT TWICE AND THE OTHER CIVS ARE BUILDING WONDERS FAST AND GETTING TECHS TOO, SO IF U THINK U CAN HANDLE IT PLAY IT.THE AI HAS ALSO DECLARED WAR ON EACH OTHER WHICH IS KIND OF NICE, SO IF U THINK THAT U HAVE MASTERED THE GAME.....
