View Full Version : CDA Feature Request
Bostock May 20, 2008, 11:11 AM Would it be feasible to add "remaining turns of whip anger" and "amount of whip anger" to the columns available for the Custom Domestic Advisor? The number one thing forcing me to drop into my cities (and watch the sometimes slow zoom-to-city animation) is the need to check the BUG-provided info on these two things. It's nice to at least have it at all, thanks to BUG, but being able to avoid the city screens altogether much more of the time would be even better.

alerum68 May 20, 2008, 10:02 PM Sure, that's doable. Please go to the Sourceforge page and added it to the features request.:)
EmperorFool May 28, 2008, 10:55 AM The real trick is coming up with good headers for those. We really need to get column header hover help text working.
Balderstrom Jun 02, 2008, 08:35 AM I'd actually prefer to be able to define my own headers within the game/edit interface. Tis something I can work on in a little while if it doesn't tread on anyone's Toes ;-)
I also have always always always, and even STILL
find the < > + - [up] [down] confusing.
I constantly use + - to change the number of pixels for a column, and wind up screwing up my Screen!
Its here to stay I suppose, but any GUI uses the < > moniker for moving items between lists, not the + - :-(
EmperorFool Jun 02, 2008, 09:30 PM By all means. make the headers editable! That would seriously rock. You'd need to add a bunch of buttons to the "rename" panel to allow you to enter all the various Civ icons. It would certainly be a good project. :)
Back when I got started in application development, the buttons were "Add" and "Remove", but I'm not defending the screen. The best solution, though it sacrifices a little table width, would be to place the existing + - buttons between the two tables (stack then vertically of course), and then you could feel free to change the icons however you like because the placement makes them clear.
Balderstrom Jun 02, 2008, 10:17 PM Well if I can make the spot where the Header is listed editable, thats one button, beside all the Headers, and when you Edit it, you would put in !commerce! or !hammer! etc...
alerum68 Jun 02, 2008, 10:21 PM Don't forget hover text!;)
Balderstrom Jun 03, 2008, 12:07 PM I'm still figuring out the hover's, but once it all clicks - I expect to make more progress.
The "Show Blank Screen" and "Add New Screen" that I dug up in the modding tutorial board were quite helpful. Just a matter of stepping back and letting it sink in so I can see the big picture.
Python isn't a bad language per se, but it definitely has some quirks.
EmperorFool Jun 03, 2008, 03:23 PM Well if I can make the spot where the Header is listed editable
Good luck with that. The table control in Civ isn't super functional. I think a popup would be pretty easy anyway.
you would put in !commerce! or !hammer! etc...
Yes, that makes sense. A help page showing all the possibilities would be nice.
alerum68 Jun 03, 2008, 03:37 PM @EF - Would you mind making a list of what help files you'd like to see added, and put them on the Features Trackers? In fact, if everyone could do this would be a big help.
EmperorFool Jun 03, 2008, 06:14 PM Will do. And anyone else doing this, make sure each missing help file is an individual feature request so they can be better tracked.
