A mercenary is a person who takes part in an armed conflict who is not a national or a party to the conflict and "is motivated to take part in the hostilities essentially by the desire for private gain and, in fact, is promised, by or on behalf of a Party to the conflict, material compensation substantially in excess of that promised or paid to combatants of similar ranks and functions in the armed forces of that Party".

This is a good civ, I am using it as sort of a quasi vandal, barbarian civ.

Spankyfart Aug 13, 2008, 10:41 PM I have downloaded this one, but I cannot get it to load no matter what I do.
(had the same issue with some viking mod too)
1. Added the mod/folder.
2. Edited _civ4config.ini to hardset the mod.
3. Cleared cache etc.
4. Tried loading it through advance.
It just will not show up no matter what I do although the XML loads fine with no errors.
Grey Germany (the Nazi mod with 4 leaders) does work for me. BtS 3.17
Could it be this just doesn't work with the 3.17 BtS? or am I doing something wrong.
Oh and yay first post is a whiney "help me" post. :cry:

ahahah, i like whiney posts:lol:, and Welcome to CFC.;)
All of the civs i make are compatible to 3.17, none of which have a dll.
Make sure you put the civ in "(Your mod name)"/Assets/Modules/Custom Civilizations/"(Heres where to put the civs)"Mercenaries
The folders HAVE to be just like above or will not work, i hope this helps, and thx again for asking.:p

I didn't have those custom folders, nor was that explained in the sticky.
I suspect these folders are never there (I just reinstalled Civ after hardcoding a new civ and failing miserably)

Added a picture, for other people that wanted to know what path to create to make it work.
Does this mean this works for any modular civ without loading it every time?

Yes just put in any civ in the folder Custom Civilizations like Mercs and you can play any civ (that is modular) of course.
