View Full Version : Everquest Scenario
EQandcivfanatic Jul 20, 2002, 11:38 AM Now that there is a place to put it on here is the Everquest Scenario. This is the first version, as i gain suggestions and reports of AI bugs caused by new units or improvements there will be newer versions. For a readme see User Created maps and Everquest map. All the Units will be posted here.
Civanator Jul 20, 2002, 12:54 PM this scenario sounds like it will be succesful with EQ fanatics that also play civ3.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 20, 2002, 01:04 PM Here is a combination of all 4 unit packs. You need this download to run the game.
Enjoy!
Civanator Jul 20, 2002, 01:07 PM thanks for them. now to add them to the index....
EQandcivfanatic Jul 20, 2002, 07:49 PM For those of you who have downloaded this pls post on this thread all fo your problems and ideas.
jimminy14 Jul 20, 2002, 08:07 PM what do u mean add them the index...iv'e got no idea how to add downloaded units to the game and iv'e yet to see an explanation anywhere on the forums....any help would be appreciated
WarlordMatt Jul 21, 2002, 06:29 AM Ya how do we get the units in the game??
EQandcivfanatic Jul 21, 2002, 10:18 AM put all of the unit folders into the art/unit section. If you have already done that and it is giving you a error message, than watch the news untill you see a report that a disgruntled computer gamer has been on the killing spree, as i spent a whole night straight from 7 PM to 5 in the morning trying to fix the units.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 21, 2002, 10:19 AM But if watching the news doesn't work for you i will post a readme on how to get it working.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 21, 2002, 01:09 PM Here's the readme, as it seems it was useless where it was orginally.
EDIT: this was for the map itself, not for the units. if you have trouble, for example it gives and error message that it cannot read a file then please post it here for a readme on how to get it working.
Tash Jul 22, 2002, 07:31 AM im confused. I put that unit download you had in the unit section, cut and pasted all the units in it, they put the test run map in the scenario folder, tried to play it and it said it was corrupted! what did i do wrong???:(
EQandcivfanatic Jul 22, 2002, 07:37 AM At what part did it say it was corrupted? when you entered the game? Also anyone else have this problem?
Sandrock LQ Jul 22, 2002, 12:42 PM I had a problem too. It was something about a unit. It went too fast for me to catch. Do you put the unit folders with qall of the other Civ3 unit folders, cause that's what I did. I put the bic file in the scenario folder. The only thing I changed was instead of random opponents, I picked one of each faction. Could that have caused my problem?
EQandcivfanatic Jul 22, 2002, 12:49 PM Did the error read like this: cannot read file Art/Unit/(name of a unit/(name of the same unit).INI?
Tash Jul 22, 2002, 01:27 PM Mine said it was corrupted when i clicked on the scenario to play the game in the main menu. Was i supposed to put that Everquest BIC file in scenarios?
EQandcivfanatic Jul 22, 2002, 02:47 PM yes

I'm pretty sure that's what it was. It only flashed for a second, and the game crashed. IS there a way to fix it?
EQandcivfanatic Jul 23, 2002, 07:45 PM Yes there is. I had the same problem when creating the scenario. But if you had that error most likely so has everyone else as the problem is in the unit files. It looks like i am about to release another version fixing this and adding another unit. I'll post it by the end of tomorrow.
Warlord Sam Jul 24, 2002, 01:21 PM THANK YOU for making such a sweet scenario, I love EQ and only just got bored with camping KC today and decided to check out the 'ol Civ3 forums... and wowza there's now scenarios, crazy changes. Time to download 1.29!
EQandcivfanatic Jul 24, 2002, 02:59 PM Yes, Civilization and Starcraft seems to be what us former EQ players "retire" to. BTW, what server?
Warlord Sam Jul 24, 2002, 05:47 PM Back in the day, my first character was on Quellious. Somewhere around the 6 month mark, I switched to Prexys so I could play with a friend. Stayed there for about two years, had a brief spurt on Bristlebane to play with a few buds, and finally find myself on Solusek Ro. Transferred there with my 51 warrior, so that I could play with my sis... I'm getting ready to head off to college and it'll be easy to keep in touch that way :) Oh, and I'm gonna ding 52 tonight.
What about you?
EQandcivfanatic Jul 24, 2002, 09:23 PM Had a lvl 60 Shaman on Druzil Ro, but lost it due to a evil little brother. Then i switched to Quellious where i friend promised me some decent plat to start a new character. Then swithed to Bristlebane after my friend didnt show, where i played until i was known almost everywhere on the server for my kill-stealing techniques. After that i switched back to Quellious where, fortunately, all the people i had offended, cheated, or kill-stealed from had forgotton me. Always with every character had the same name though. Always got a laugh from it. It was Chedder BTW.
Warlord Sam Jul 25, 2002, 05:08 PM Heh, thats pretty funny
You still haven't done the newest version of yer scenario, which was due yesterday...
tsk tsk
EQandcivfanatic Jul 25, 2002, 06:53 PM Was busy all day, still am. Rarely get a chance to get on now, much less play CIv3
Alpine Trooper Jul 25, 2002, 09:39 PM Everquest is a true roleplayers worst nightmare. Anyone who plays that game is wasting time and money. We condem that game along with UO and any other MMORPG which exceeds acceptable intelligence levels like EQ. You must have a lot of balls to be declaring yourself an Everquest fan. The game is terrible too by the way.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 26, 2002, 12:28 AM It's time for the thousands of people who are playing EQ at this moment to hunt you down and kill you. As some advice don't open your mail. We don't talk about killing anyone here. Even if it is a joke. Gonzo
And down to buisness. even though it is 3 AM and i just got back i am going to start working on the EQ scenario's new version right now.
BTW, Alpine, if you dont like EQ i suppose you think that Diablo sucks too. If you have the balls to say that i salute you, no doubt then you will have many more angry Private Messages pouring into you as the Diablo fans i have run into take Diablo more seriously than any other online gamers i have ever known. That is of course with the exception of my brother who lives and breathes EQ.
Dark Sheer Jul 26, 2002, 01:01 AM EQ? I have no time for that but I do agree with your view. Online Multiplayer is fun! (I am on UO for the 4th year now. ;) That explains why I have no time for EQ. :D )
Warlord Sam Jul 27, 2002, 02:20 PM How do you have time for Civ3, if you play UO?? :p
Alpine Trooper Jul 27, 2002, 05:43 PM I never said I hated Diablo. It's a fine game. But Everquest is hell. It's a waste of money. Kids who want cheap minute thrills are better off masturbating then buying EQ.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 28, 2002, 08:45 PM I agree about the money thing of EQ, it would be much better if they charged you for the amount of time you played not the amount of time you have had the account. I just recently started playing EQ again, which is only relevant to my thread because i haven't had time to play Civ3 due to EQ. And EQ is addicting so it is not exactly a cheap "minuite" thrill. It is more of a expensive year-long thrill.
Warlord Sam Jul 30, 2002, 02:08 PM It really is like a drug, ya know?
First month's free... they get you hooked
Then they just start charging you... and you keep coming back, always wanting more of the Crack.
Got my first bit of cobalt this morning, some gauntlets from KC.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 30, 2002, 06:57 PM I have been working on a Warrior, with the new patches giving armor, it has been extrodinarly easier to make money and armor. Not like the back in the day when Kunark just came out. The best improvement i have seen in the patches is no doubt not having to look at the stupid spell book when meditating, otherwise they could have just left a lot of it alone.
IXIRandyIXI Jul 31, 2002, 06:40 AM I used to play Everquest a couple months ago. I played 6 months until I noticed the game was taking over my life (eating?? wha?? I'm about to ding here!!!). Then I quit. I managed to get my main character on Seventh Hammer, a Wood Elf Ranger, up to level 52, and a Halfling Druid up to 34. It was fun while it lasted... :)
At least on Seventh Hammer, there are a few RPing Guilds, so it isn't a complete nightmare for a RPer. But I do agree - I came to Everquest thinking everyone would be into RPing, but then I find out that 95% of the people who play it don't want to/know about/hate RPing. Oh well. I guess you can't always get what you want.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 31, 2002, 09:20 AM Not always. BTW what part of Florida you from?
IXIRandyIXI Jul 31, 2002, 11:49 AM Casselberry. It's near Orlando.
EQandcivfanatic Jul 31, 2002, 04:10 PM Yes i know the place. What school around there?
IXIRandyIXI Aug 02, 2002, 04:43 PM Hm? You mean what school I go to? Not sure if I'm willing to post that information on a message board where anyone can see it.
VinCaiden Aug 10, 2002, 06:47 AM Tash, I had the same problem you did with some scenarios. When you start Civ3 look down at the left corner of the opening menu, there should be a version number there, If you're version is lower than 1.27, you're running an old version and some of the scenarios won't work. You can get the new version at firaxis.com or civ3.com I think.

I think that there is one unit you forgot to put in your zips.
The Necromancer Blast:
Error Reading file:
\Arts\units\Necromancer Blast\Necromancer Blast .INI
If you will include this file or E-mail Me (jkays@fuse.net) I then can see for my self what all the hype is that I read earlier is about.
BTW, what is UO & EQ? Don't really know but it sounds GOOD.
EQandcivfanatic Sep 08, 2002, 12:04 PM I assure you that everything was included. If your Private Messges are activated however i will be happy to send you a copy of the NEcromancer Blast INI. The new Version is coming today too.
To answer your question EQ is Everquest, known jokingly as Evercrack because it is so addicting. Recently though i ran out of money so i can't play it. It is a great game if you have to money to play it.

I just looked at the file that I downloaded from your thread and indeed you don't have that unit included in the zip.:) :) ;)
I would be pleased if you would send the unit to me either PM or E=mail (jkays@fuse.net). THANK YOU:) :) ;)
EQandcivfanatic Sep 08, 2002, 01:04 PM After much experimenting the newest version of the Everquest Scenario has been completed. And here it is:
Plexus Jan 21, 2003, 05:48 PM Barely the first posted... dang.
NathanG08 Jun 06, 2007, 02:57 PM Would you mind re-posting the units or sending them to me? The link is not there anymore. Thanks
EQandcivfanatic Jun 06, 2007, 04:56 PM I haven't had the units for this mod on any of my computers for a long time, sorry.
