ultimate ranged combat mod inspired by DCM.

Mostly the zone of control autofiring ( SO HOT), ranged counterattack, ranged unit multiple attacks based on range, and the ability to set the tile range and stuff of ranged units is just way hotter than the ranged bombardment functions out of DCM.

What's it take to make this work with RoM?

It seems to be an orphaned project by the original author but he did post a beta version for civ4 3.03

well, he didnt seem to be done with his 3.13 mod, so im not sure if it would be possible to integrate it without making up code on your own.

I have faith in the minds behind ROM to make it work. I want my archers autoshooting anything that gets near my city.

then they'll obliterate anything that enters their ZoC:lol:

As they well should. Perhaps limited to their "first strike(s)" number so damage is only partial.

It would add a bit more strategy to how you ( or the ai for that matter) move your units to siege a city rather than building up in one huge stack outside the walls, I bet.

If this feature in particular seems interesting to you, it is already in DCM. It is called opportunity fire. Your bombard capable units (archers and siege units) have a chance of shooting at enemy units stationed within their range. It happens automatically and it doesn't consume the unit's movement. In fact if enough number of archers are in your city attackers will sustain considerable hit points lose if they kept just waiting beside the city for several turns (say waiting for their siege units to bring city defense to 0). Of course you will suffer likewise. I actually began to keep my invasion forces one tile away from a city while only my siege units and a number of defending units are in a tile adjacent to the city getting the dirty job done.

DCM is all buggy though. Besides, I have this mental image of machine guns with 2 tile radius zones of control autoshooting things that come into range.

Not speaking of map scales : on most maps 2 tile radius represent hundreds of kms, a bit too much even for heavy artillery.
