Flamand May 31, 2008, 12:54 PM Ruby_Sauce is doing a great job on a redshirt! Check it out! (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=6875367)
Flamand Jun 01, 2008, 02:04 PM I finished the Borg Queen Ship, but I can't make it into a flc. Anyone still has a working copy of Civ3FlcEdit? The download links are dead... :(

Logitech Jun 01, 2008, 03:08 PM First post!
Perfect and Perfect as far as trek-ish units go. Can't wait to replace fed infantry II with him...
Civ flic edit: Have it, but it does not work on my comp. So I have a copy, just not a working one...
ruby_sauce Jun 01, 2008, 06:15 PM I can't get civ3flcedit to work on my pc, but I use flicster. I don't know what files you have, maybe I can "flicify" them for you?
anyway, this is what I have so far for the attack animation:
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa176/ruby_sauce/Preview.gif
so what do you think?
edit: I have fixed the weird movement with his arm, it goes smoother into the fortified position now. It looked better from the south position... oh well. I will render and post the thing tomorrow because it is a bit late here now :)
Flamand Jun 01, 2008, 11:38 PM Looking absolutely perfect... ;)
@ Logitech: can you please post it somewhere? Else I guess I'll have to give Flicster a try...
edit: updated the Queen Ship preview...
Balthasar Jun 02, 2008, 07:08 AM Don't want to be picky Ruby_Sauce, but a phaser would normally fire a continuous beam with no kick-back.
ruby_sauce Jun 02, 2008, 08:03 AM Don't want to be picky Ruby_Sauce, but a phaser would normally fire a continuous beam with no kick-back.
yea so I've heard. the second attack would be a continuous beam though, so if you want you could just leave this one out ;)
Flamand Jun 02, 2008, 10:25 AM Don't want to be picky Ruby_Sauce, but a phaser would normally fire a continuous beam with no kick-back.
I ask Ruby for a short phaser pulse, but you are right with the kickback... ;)
Blue Monkey Jun 02, 2008, 10:30 AM Maybe he's just flinching because it's almost time for the first commercial break...
ruby_sauce Jun 02, 2008, 11:54 AM ok, should I get the knockback all gone? or should I for reducing the stifness of it add a tiny bit of knockback?
Flamand Jun 02, 2008, 12:39 PM Yeah, maybe you should leave a little bit to make it look less stiff...
Balthasar Jun 02, 2008, 04:50 PM Yeah, maybe you should leave a little bit to make it look less stiff...
Yes, tests here indicate that 3 of 4 testers instinctively raised their phasers after firing; the fourth lowered his phaser after firing. We think that excessive amounts of marijuana may be the cause of his arm tiredness; we're hoping to do more testing tonight.:D

Isn't that (Civ3FlcEdit) included with Civ3MM Toolkit?

I tried it myself a bit and it is true... ;) But I guess Starfleet finest would have learned to suppress that tendency. :D

Yes, but the download link is dead after the server hack a few months ago... :(
ruby_sauce Jun 03, 2008, 08:46 AM and since you guys requested it ;)
do you want him to carry the gun in his hands or on his belt?
Flamand Jun 03, 2008, 10:46 AM I think the belt would be the most appropriate, like this:

Tank_Guy#3 Jun 03, 2008, 05:04 PM Yes, but the download link is dead after the server hack a few months ago... :(
Hmmm, I just tried the link and everything worked fine for me (I used the first link).
Installed and ran fine for me.

About the unit ruby sauce posted. Perhaps he could make the person do a little bit of a thrust with the phaser just before firing. I've noticed that while watching episodes lately (my guess is to aim a little better). DS9 and Voyager (as those are the only ones being aired that I've found).
Flamand Jun 03, 2008, 11:35 PM Thanks Tank Guy, I guess there was a temporary problem with the download when I tried... ;)

Do you still need my copy of civ3flic?
Flamand Jun 04, 2008, 11:42 PM Do you still need my copy of civ3flic?
Thanks, but I managed to download it yesterday... ;)

Flamand Jun 09, 2008, 02:05 PM New ship: the Borg diamond...
http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/8427/diamonduq4.gif
Rather simple thingy innit...? But what do you get if you put 10 of these puppies together?
Then you get the Saucer. Still needs some work though...

Logitech Jun 09, 2008, 06:08 PM I'd say make the saucer final shot somthing more explosive. Seems a wast of resources and ships if all I get is a puny blast.. :mischief:
PS: most refrances to a borg diamond is this (http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/en/images/d/d5/BorgQueensShip.jpg)(frontmost ship). The diamond ship your working on (single) kind of looks like a early probe or something to me.

That's what I meant by that it still needs work... ;)
As for the Diamond, the ship in the picture is most often referred to as the Queen Ship. I made it last week (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=6878634&postcount=3)...So I figure this one could be the diamond instead... :D
ruby_sauce Jun 20, 2008, 07:13 AM hey flamand,
sorry I didn't respond in some time. my pc was broken down and appearently my video card was too hot because the fan broke down. I sent it to the shop but they took a LONG time repairing it, so I apoligise.
I have my PC back again now, so hopefully I will finish the unit soon...
Flamand Jun 20, 2008, 10:47 AM That's ok. I just downgraded my pc from Vista to XP. Now it is working happily like never before, but it took a little while to get everything right again... ;)
Sword_Of_Geddon Jun 21, 2008, 10:01 PM So is the diamond a fighter-class for the Borg? Great to see you back in action Flamand.
Flamand Jun 22, 2008, 11:49 PM Flighter or scout vessel. Not sure yet...
volbound1700 Jun 26, 2008, 03:52 PM Question about your past scenario... I was playing single player, Federation and I want Vulcan and Tellar (the actually planets) to join my federation but no matter how much I try to pay them, they never join. Is it possible to bribe capitols to join your federation? If not, then this scenario is broke because they will never join the Federation. You will have to invade them which is really against the Federation's personality.
Thanks,
Matthew
Flamand Jun 26, 2008, 11:50 PM Only once I managed to flip a capital that way after a lot of trying, but I guess that is a limitation of Civ III we will need to live with... :(
volbound1700 Jun 27, 2008, 09:04 AM So then, to really make it right, I would either have to create a civ like I did in my multiplayer mode for star trek (can only have 8 for multi) where the capitol is ferginar but all the other planets are apart of that civ and I can bribe them since they are not capitols, or I will have to simple add Vulcan, Teller, and Andoria to the Fed civ and not have them as seperate civs to keep it accurate.
Hmm, so did you invade Vulcan and Teller in your campaign?
Flamand Jun 27, 2008, 10:45 AM You can make the Feds as an alliance between a number of civs. You won't be able to simulate the birth of the Federation that way, but if you start after that period it should be ok (like a Romulan war scenario, TOS or TNG).
And yes, invading is the only way to be sure. The civ that I made flip its capital was BakKu/ Son'a, which is not that strong to begin with...
jlvfr Jun 28, 2008, 03:30 PM PS: most refrances to a borg diamond is this (http://images.wikia.com/memoryalpha/en/images/d/d5/BorgQueensShip.jpg)(frontmost ship). The diamond ship your working on (single) kind of looks like a early probe or something to me.
What the...?! where is that from!?
Logitech Jun 29, 2008, 03:24 PM Wikiapedia. Or at least, a version of it. If you mean what episode, I don't know. I recognise the unit being diamond class because of 'Star Trek: Starfleet Command', an old game that was in 2D. Of cource, this being the 'Queen's ship' and the new ones being diamond is ok with me.
Micaelus Jul 04, 2008, 11:46 AM With the Klingon unit request failing to make it out of the 'regular season' and into the tournament, I felt compelled to take it up.
He may take me a while to animate, but what do you think of the model?

Flamand Jul 04, 2008, 12:19 PM Dude that is perfect!
Logitech Jul 08, 2008, 08:13 PM :goodjob::goodjob::goodjob:
Excelent... Now for the conquering part... :borg:
ruby_sauce Jul 19, 2008, 08:07 AM hey Flamand, sorry I was gone for over a month, I just had alot of stuff going on and I wasn't able to get to unitmaking... again, sorry
the good news is that with the help of vuldacon I was able to make the unit's beam connect pretty well, but the rotation wasn't absoltely correct with the SE and NW animation, and also the beam didn't connect in the east/west and south animation. I will redo those with a longer beam, while keeping the diagonal animation with a normal beam.
if I fix those, then the unit will be finished except for sounds. I have no idea what the sounds are supposed to be, so if you can link me to a not too long sound file of the continuous and single shot beams, then I think I can work something out.
ruby_sauce Aug 04, 2008, 05:46 AM oh btw sorry I didn't tell you this: I am in scotland atm and I am staying here three weeks (I have already been here for a week though) so I am terribly sorry.
I don't think I will be doing that many, if any, requests as I don't work consistantly >_>
again sorry, expect a unit posted when I return >_>
Flamand Aug 04, 2008, 01:50 PM Don't worry about it and enjoy your Scottish holiday... ;)
ruby_sauce Aug 25, 2008, 10:07 AM well, I came back and I had awesome weather and a cool time
I finished him up, but I don't know about sounds, so if you have some sound files for me to add to the download that would be cool, because I don't like delivering units without sounds...
anyway, the thread:

Flamand Aug 25, 2008, 11:11 AM Don't worry, there are plenty of suitable Trek sounds out there. It's absolutely perfect... ^^
Micaelus May 14, 2009, 04:11 PM Some time ago, I posted a workup of a Klingon...that I've yet to fully animate. However, taking inspiration from that effort and Ruby_Sauce's 'Redshirt', I've looked to continue filling the gaps of Star Trek foot units. Following the "old" Star Trek MOD, I'm hoping to create infantry units for the major races (Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Cardassian, Dominion, Borg) to replace the generic "Infantry" units that these races currently field. That MOD has 4 grades of infantry units for each. Not all of these races have 4 distinct uniform styles in Star Trek canon, so some will have fewer units.
I've found the appropriate uniforms, props, etc for 4 eras of Starfleet units and 2 eras of Klingon units...and a rough Borg. Using props/figures available from others on the forums, I've approximated some Romulan and Cardassian uniforms, but unless I stumble across some new sites (I've searched the net quite diligently) Romulan, Cardassian, and Dominion uniforms and weaponry will need to be created from scratch. I may try my hand at modelling, but more likely I will post a request for help on the main forum and see if I can get any aid.
For now, I thought I'd let others know that I'm adding this project to my other in-progress units (I really should finish some soon) and show what the first mock up of the models look like...

Balthasar May 14, 2009, 04:38 PM These are great, Michaelus. If I had any suggestions it would be that the Cardassian's Neck be longer and thicker, and that the Borg have more and thicker hoses. Wouldn't the white areas of the Borg be flesh-colored rather than white?
Flamand May 16, 2009, 03:25 AM Those look REALLY great! I hope that you can find the time to animate them, especially the non Starfleet ones... For the Borg, Romulan and Cardassian you can make small but distinguishble differences between the different levels. Especially for the Borg and Cardassians you can use your imagination since they were not known in TOS time... ;)
Logitech Aug 21, 2009, 08:20 AM *Bump* :)
So how are those models comming along, Micaelus?
