View Full Version : What arcane spheres would you control?

The question I'm asking is pretty simple. If you were a mage in erebus (or the "real" world, if you like) what mana spheres would you control? please post an explanation of your choices with your vote. I wont make any limit on the spheres you can select, but don't do anything like selecting all of the spheres because that would not add anything to this. Try to pick the ones you see yourself using very often.

Life, Death, and Mind. {In Magic: The Gathering terms = Green, Black, and Blue.}

Just like having command over "life ... and death itself! Mwahahahahaha!"

Mind magic is for when you need more subtle effects. And Mind III Domination does not hurt either.

I want law because I hate it when people don't follow the rules.

Fire, entropy and death.

Fireball flinging mages are always cool...

Who doesn't want an army of skeletons?

And entropy to weaken your opponents, makes it easier to mock them for their weaknesses after you've beat them...

Life, Creation, and Dimensional spheres.

Life so that I can give care to those in need.

Creation because to make something is far better than to destroy, and exemplifies some of my philosophical views.

Dimensional because you avoid traffic.

I would have shadow and Enchantment.

Shadow would give me invisibility, mistforms, and other companions to shelter me from the evils of Erebus. Who can find you to purge you if your invisible?

Enchantment has always intruiged me. I could use it for a multitude of things, including golems.

Sun and Water, cause I like the idea of using two radically different spheres.

Shadow, because I dislike being in the sun.

Mind, because I'm so damn absent-minded all the time.

Air, because "I talk to the wind, my words are all carried away."

Chaos and life.
I don't really know why these two jump out at me, but they seem like the sort of spheres I'd study if I lived on Erebus, and they seem to complement each other nicely, somehow. After all, what in this universe could possibly be more chaotic than life?

Mind, Chaos, and Enchantment for me. I love the thought of mental subversion, although I doubt I could weild that power without going mad. I am a true child of chaos, rules were meant to broken. Ane I love the idea of creating wonderous artifacts to enrapture and entrance.

Spirit (closest to the meaning soul), mind and body.

The main thing here is control. I wish to have full control of my own soul, mind and body. I hate it when I said something I do not mean to, do something against my own will, or fail to make a sound judgement. For example, getting emotional and shouting at the top of my lung. It scare the peoples around me and hurt them emotionally.

Self-control is something that a lot of people has taken for granted, and sadly, not everyone can control their own action, behaviour, or temperament properly.

I wish I did not hurt too much people all these years. I need to be more mature, and I want to have a better self-control.

Btw, I'm a able-bodied person, and a sane one too. At least, that's what I think so.

Metamagic, Creation, Force, Enchantment & Dimension. It's as close as you can get to being an Experimental Physicist ;)

Force, Sun, and Shadow.

Force because I like to move my opponents around, Shadow because I like sneaking around until it's time to fight, and Sun because I like to do the whole 'Blaze of Glory' thing during combat.

Creation, Life, Enchantment, Mind and Body.

Creation and Enchantment because I like making things; Mind and Body for the prospect improving myself mentally and physically, manipulating others, etc.; and Life for the healing and curing.

Water, because it is the best element (sorry, I'm a long-time competitive swimmer.)
Life, because you should be able to protect yourself and loved ones with healing powers.
Shadow, because you should be free to do whatever you choose, and if a veil of deception is required to accumulate that freedom, then so be it.

Creation, Enchantment, and Mind. That's about as close to 1337 jedi (or sith) skillz as I'm going to get in Erebus. My magic would be used constructively (albeit sneakily), for personal gain and enjoyment, rather than destruction and mayhem, like many spheres are made for.

Mind, Dimensional, and Metamagic.

Mind, because not only am I always forgetting things, I like knowledge.
Dimensional because of the recent increase in oil prices :p
Metamagic because it trains me to use my skills better.

You wouldn't be able to have any combat promotions, though, so you'd be really squishy.

Death, Force, Dimensional. I could escape death from natural causes by becoming a lich and use force to crush my enemies and use dimensional when they were too strong. also, being able to teleport all over the place would be flipping awesome

Dimensional: Having a last minute escape route is always a good idea.
Fire: Flinging Fireballs is a blast.
Death: Why die when you can become an immortal Lich?

I would hide behind my awesome summons in an evil fort where i then control the minds of every bypassers and build an own army and then take the world hostage.

If I were a mage, I'd like to be a professional terraformer. Give me nature and water. If I had time for further study, I'd add life (for cure disease) and fire.

Not if you have flooded the whole area around it with water and there it is zombies and drowns right from the evil castles basement and then i have used my sun magic to dry a desert and then make a wall of cactus with nature. before that i have made ice and tundra and there i made a mountain wall with creation. Over the mountain i have a patrol of air elementals. And its windy up there. It is wolfs there too. Before that its an awesome forest. And the fort itself is cut from a huge mountain and enchanted. If a assassin is so awesome he gets to my castle alive, i would sit on my throne, surrounded with skeletons and summons and a huge eye over it. Then i would greet him and convert his mind so he would kill his sender.

Well, I'm limiting myself to three spheres because that seems reasonable and common.

Metamagic: Because if you're going to learn magic, you might as well learn magic, you know what I'm saying?

Creation: I did not pick this, although I wanted to, because I think Creation and Entropy are just too damn good. Call them "fourth" spheres you spend a long time getting to, and certainly not ever mastering. I'd pick Creation over Entropy 'cause that's how I'd roll.

Force: This is telekinesis, right? If it isn't, I'll go with Air, but if it is...TK is the catchall of special powers. You can fly, enhance your attacks with raw force, even TK control your opponents by physically manipulating their bodies. Force owns.

Enchantment: Magic swords, loyal golems, sex appeal...definitely an awesome sphere.

Mind, Body, and Spirit would make a cool trio.
So would Nature, Life, and Death. Mmmm. I'd keep my hand in Death just enough for skellies, because every badass needs an undead army.

Nature, Shadow and Dimensional.
Nature because I like the idea of being able to summon and create things that would help me in any environment.
Shadow because I want to be able to fade out history now and then.
dimensional because i want to be able to escape.

Mind, Enchantment, Ice, Force and Knowledge. I'm bit lazy, so with Enchantment I could create golems or self motivating tools, Mind could let me use people(not for evil, but abit sleezly) to do my tasks, and Force because were automatice mops, brooms, hammers, golems and getting someone else to do it fails, I can clean or cook or whatever with out having to actually do[I] anything. And Ice because winter is my favorite season(note: Ice like it was [I]before Mulcarn's Fall)

Darksaber1

In addition, beginable to have some else do my basic tasks frees up valuable time, since i don't have Lichdom to live after death.

I have chosen Fire, Shadow and Enchantment.

The reason is pretty simple: if magic would exist, all of us would usually just do the same things, or at least all like the same "classic":

Fireballs, invisibility and enchanting weapons and items.

With those three spheres, I could just hide myself from those I cannot deal with, burn the rest and making many fun staff for me.

I could travel in all safety through all of Erebus, spying the secrets of all, eliminating those who menace me and my dear and my nation, and live in comfort thanks to tools which work alone like in Disney's Sorcerer's Apprentice (that with Mickey Mouse LOL).

Btw, this only in case I cannot master it all...

Spirit and Life, for while I originally saw myself as an Elohim, a bit of the Mercurian has crept in of late. Especially the Sanctify and Resurrect bits. Hell, let's add Nature too, for Vitalize. The Elohim are tolerant of elves, aren't they?
