View Full Version : Hall of Fame not registering any scores

Hi

I hav been playing CIV now for longer than I care to remember, all the versions, and many of the additions.

I have CIV 4 and now Beyond the Sword and they are both brilliant. I have the problem that when I finish a game, my score does not come up on the Hall of Fame, it remains empty. I check my replay files, and they are all of 0 kb. I cannot upload the file, as it is empty.

Does anyone else have that problem?

I can still enjoy the game, but it is more fun when you can compare scores.

Thanks in advance

I'm having the same issue. Would rather not re-install if possible.

Thanks!

Thanks for the advice and the welcome.

Yeah, turns out some of the directories and/or files in my Saves folder were read only. Not sure which ones though. Hopefully this works!

Odd that it would install in such a fashion that directories that should be writeable are read only...

Hi all

I have made various threads here and in other forums (fora?), and received tons of good advice. Reinstall with the antivirus off, make sure nothing is write-protected, make sure there are no Danish characters anywhere in any folder - these are the three that repeat.

I have followed all of them, but to no avail. But I wish to thank everyone including 2K Games support for all the help. Maybe I will be luckier with a later version of the game.

Regards

if it is windows vista you might also want to check that the program/game has admin rights during installation and patching...

I'm still not having any luck either. I haven't tried to reinstall as it's not worth the time.

I'm using winXP and have made the entire game directory not read-only.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks again.

You could use ProcessMonitor to check for a possible ACCESS DENIED or another error
but it is very complex if you are not a computer pro

Hi Berserker

Great tool. it turns out that the game is unable to find CvScreensInterface. It tries at several occasions, but comes up with a "No such file". I checked my harddisk, and yep. It is not there.

I can see from the archive (link: http://forums.civfanatics.com/archive/index.php/t-250540.html) that another player has had this problem.

His solution with installing C++ and Installer 3.1 has not worked for me.

Strange that a system file is not installed.

:hmm:
CvScreensInterface.py is not a system file it should be installed with civ4 in
...\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Python\EntryPoints
and
\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Assets\Python\EntryPoints
and
\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\Python\EntryPoints

as well as a whole lot of mods...
if it is not present at all this install is likely bugged :hmm:

Hi Ori
OK wrong term, but I agree with you. The install must be bugged - every single time! At least ten. There must be something that stops that particular file from installing. I do not make a custom install or anything. I do express.

did you look in those places I posted? I would rather expect there to be an issue with executing this file for the HOF stuff - the file itself is necessary for lots of other screens within the game so that I cannot imagine it not being there without you noticing much more problems...

You are of course right. It is in all those locations. Wonder if I can copy it from there to the locations where it is missing.

you could try...

Just and idea but maybe you have an uncommon antivirus? It could block certain aspects of the installation. To be sure, install Civ in clean boot mode http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353/da

Otherwise you should maybe Start -> Run -> DXDIAG as well and send it to Take2Games support as well with a description and they can probably help.

Now I tried first to copy the cvscreensinterface.py to the relevant directories - no result.

Re the proposal to install again: I have already installed while my McAfee antivirus had been deactivated using MSConfig, I believe this should do it.

Thanks again for all your help.

Just checked the bug report again, and found the following in PythonErr.log
Traceback (most recent call last):

File "CvScreensInterface", line 154, in showReplay

RuntimeError: unidentifiable C++ exception
ERR: Python function showReplay failed, module CvScreensInterface

I ended up getting the attached response from 2K Games. Haven't tried it yet, but thought i'd post it anyway.

Open My Computer then open the Local Disk (C: )
Open the program files folder.
Click on the tools menu then choose folder options
Click on the view tab and tick the box labelled "show hidden files and folders". Press OK
Open the installshield installation information folder
Search for a folder named {32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}
Right click on the folder and choose rename. Press the End key on the keyboard and type the word OLD. Press the enter key
Insert the Civilization Beyond the Sword install CD and open My Computer. Right click on the CD drive and choose explore,

This should allow Beyond the Sword to install fully as normal. If you still have issues with the scoreboard afterwards please try downloading the patches for this game from the following website:
