Ok. so i bought CIV 4 waay back like 2 years ago.

I tried to install it and it was going well until the wonders were being installed..it prompted me for the second c.d and i put it in but then the whole installation crashed with and left an error message like "corrupt file" or something like that.. it was def. corrupt. i could try it again and give the exact message if you can help me. I fall just into the minimum requirements. I have a Gateway 4020G laptop if that helps.

i bought this game for 50 dollars and i dont want a refund, i just really really want to play it. im a big CIV fan

thanks

Welcome to CFC :band:

try copying both discs to your hard drive and run the install from there. If (as I expect) the copying does not work it would indicate that the disc is damaged :( you *could* have it replaced for a charge by Take2 then

sorry the last two days kept me occupied with other stuff so I forgot this.

on your desktop right click anywhere. in the menu that opens chose new, then new folder or new directory. give it any name you want.
then double click on my computer. right click on the cd drive symbol (the cd should be in the drive) and chose open with explorer.
in the explorer window that opens click on Edit in the tool bar then on select all. Then click again on edit and on copy.
now go back to your desktop by closing this window and double click on the folder you created. in the window that opens click on edit and then on paste.
If there are more than one cds repeat this until you have copied all cds into this one new folder. then start the install by double clicking on setup.exe

:)

Unfortunately,

I tried what you said and it didnt work. It did the same thing as before.

This is pretty much what happened:

the install is going on-track and right as it begins to install the Versaille Wonder an error immediately comes up that says feature error. Catastrophic failure. it closes and the install crashes to the desktop. and thats that.

anyone know whats wrong?

I had the exact same problem, except with number III. The installation was going fine until it installed one file, which made the whole thing crash. I contacted a computer technician and he said to wipe down the bad CD with carnuva wax and a soft cloth. I did, and it worked, so I think it'll work for you.

You can usually find the wax in the furniture polish aisle of a grocery store, or at a furniture store that sells wood furniture.

If you can't find the wax, try this. Rinse the CD with warm, NOT HOT, water, then use a little liquid dish soap (Dawn works best for this, but any liquid soap should do) and rub it carefully all over the side of the disc opposite to the labeled side. Carefully rinse the soap completely from the disc, and blot it dry with a soft lint-free cloth.

Thanks but it didnt work

i get the same error message, which goes like this:

Featuretransfererror

Component: Default Feature

Error: Catastrophic Failure

Then the whole installation crashes to desktop.

This always happens when The Versaille.bik file is being installed and i'm prompted for the second disk
