Yeah, there are a nice spread of achievements. Some you'll get at any difficulty level, but that encourage you to try for victory with different civs, different victory types, etc.

Others kick in at King (tough for someone like me, who likes games like Civ but isn't that great at them) and Diety (doubt I'll be getting any Diety achievements!). Then there are a few fairly specialised ones (200 x per turn, etc).

Well thought out.

Surprising that there aren't any multiplayer specific ones.

Thanks for the link, yeah some of those look challenging but they also look kinda fun and will be real entertaining getting them, and this is the first time i've ever seen an achievement not worth a multiple of 5( i think i saw a few threes in there) its kinda weird

Yeah that is surprising, but Call Of Duty 4 did that too, so i don't know if they're phasing them out for people who don't have xbox live or what but i always liked the mutliplayer ones

As someone who isn't into multiplayer, I'm grateful over here :king:
Not that I expect to get 1000/1000 or anything. Win at Deity? Fat chance, at least going by past performance in previous versions of Civ on the PC!

Winning 20 battles with one unit is going to be kinda tough too, you'll get up to 19 and he'll die.

The 20 battles one isn't that hard if you're playing on King. I got it without trying in my first game by teching up to get a tank army, then going and conquering every city, which gets you twenty wins quite easily, as they're still using archers/pikemen to defend at best.

I used a battleship as the Chinese on Cheiftan. I annhilated my opponents galleys and galleons and easily got the achievement. I'd like to know how to get the 200:hammers: achievement as well.

To be honest, I haven't found too many of these achievements to actually be hard. I haven't started to tackle the Diety level stuff yet, but the King stuff wasn't very hard to pull off.

Yes, all the achievements are single player only, just like CoD4...and I like this recent trend towards it. Why? Well, giving gamer points for multiplayer is a bit unfair to all. This isn't only because of XBL availability to everyone out there, but also think of this: not everyone is absolutely incredible at multiplayer. Therefore, you are leaving out gamer points for people that just may not be capable of being INCREDIBLE at something like CoD4.

Civ Rev achievements should be more of a time-consuming effort than anything, as most of them involve either beating the game on any difficulty with a different civilization or just getting your 200+ stuff. I was able to pull cities producing over 900+ gold and science per turn with little to no effort. The technological one, I missed the first time around...just because I didn't know that the shuttle would take 19 years to get to Alpha Centauri, and I was already in 2082 AD...kind of a crapper there, right?

I don't mind multiplayer achievements because they can be difficult to get. After all, they are *achievements* and should in theory demonstrate skill. The foundation of this system is that only those who earned the achievements get them.

However, this is not the case in multiplayer, which is why I don't like multiplayer achievements. Ever play a game on xbox live? Good luck trying to find a group of people that don't want to artificially earn the online achievements by boosting. I was so glad when I found out there are no MP achievements in Civ Rev. I won't have to worry about playing with people who only are in it for a score no one but themselves care about. Great decision by the devs.

The other problem with multiplayer achievements is they can screw up a games online community when people play specifically to get achievements. For example if you visit the Chessmaster Live board (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/4221052685) if you go back a bit to earlier posts, you'll see lots of complaints about people starting a game as white and then not playing. Since white gets the first move in Chess, they would wait for the black player to quit thus earning a cheap victory. Why would anyone do this? The community consensus seems to be that people who really weren't interested in chess were doing it to get the multiplayer Chessmaster Live Achievements. Apparently it happened a lot right when the game came out, and some players even admitted that they weren't going to make a move, they wanted that win, and the black player had better resign. UBI finally put in a patch where the black player could quit a game and if the white player wasn't playing it wouldn't count as a loss.

Does anybody know if there is anything to do about the 'Here's Looking at You, Kid' achivement? (Get all Great Persons). I miss 3 and it seems to be pretty random what I get, but I have a theory that it is somehow linked to the tech you have researched...
