Hi there,

I play civ 4 + all expensions on my computer, (that has vista on it)

The game plays like it should, but only one thing, if a computer tries to talk to me, it takes a while, for the screen to show up, and it is with all animations, also when i completed a special building.
it is realy anoying that the screen needs like 20 seconds to show up and it is realy pissing me of.

My compuet is fast enough so i cant be that.

Thanks for the one who finds a solution!

Thank you,

Well i have a dual core 2.4 Ghz processor
4 gb ddr2
gforce 8600m GT, i installed the latest nvidia driver that is provided by the manufactuor's website.

So i just know this couldnt be it.

Btw i am playing on a laptop, anything more you need to know?

this sounds almost like my laptop - so you are right it should work fine...
:hmm:
some programs like anti-virus programs can slow the game down. apart from that: is the game patched?

:hmm:
try installing a new directx 9c version:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&DisplayLang=en
(note: this will not interfere with dx10 that is already installed on vista).
If that does not do it I'd know a hotfix - but that would kill the animations in those screens:
Install NeverMind's static leaderheads and movies:

Edit:
oh and you could do the following:
open civilizationIV.ini and change the following setting so that it reflects what I post below:

HideMovieBackground = 1

also you might want to check in your graphics card control panel that anti-aliasing is not used.

oke i will try it! ill keep you posted.
Thanks

edit:

Hmm it seems to work a fraction faster now, but still not quick, i think i will instal the animations disabler, but is it able for me to undo the instalation at a later time?

you should unzip all the files in the static animations pack into your custom assets folder (e.g. for BtS you'd unzip into
my games\beyond the sword\customassets\ )
this way when you want to get rid of them: just delete those files (or even the folder - the game will create a new empty one if it does not find it) :)

also: try patching with the new patch released today :)
