View Full Version : Patch 3.17 bestje Jun 19, 2008, 03:14 PM Any idea of when the new patch is going to be HOF legal? WastinTime Jun 19, 2008, 03:24 PM Will we allow the new "No espionage" option? BLubmuz Jun 19, 2008, 03:28 PM Will we allow the new "No espionage" option?I hope so, i usually spend a lot of hammers in "espionage buildings" only to avoid troubles. Usually i stay passive on espionage. bestje Jun 19, 2008, 03:48 PM it sounds like it makes cultural victories very easy as espionage points are now culture points and spy GPP now can be put towards any sort of GP. so my guess would be that it would be banned at least for cultural wins for everything else it shouldn't make much difference BLubmuz Jun 19, 2008, 04:02 PM it sounds like it makes cultural victories very easy as espionage points are now culture points and spy GPP now can be put towards any sort of GP. so my guess would be that it would be banned at least for cultural wins for everything else it shouldn't make much differenceIf you're building Jails or Intelligence Agencies in cultural games, you'll never be on the HoF tables (at least not in the first place). I guess that a poll can be a good idea. Do i have to redo them all if they issue a new HOF mod? Sam_Yeager Jun 19, 2008, 05:08 PM I don't follow your logic, how is culture affected? Buildings that would normally produce spy points will produce culture points instead when No Espionage is selected. Denniz Jun 19, 2008, 05:14 PM I just finished my first game for EQM on emperor. Do i have to redo them all if they issue a new HOF mod?No, it still counts as a BTS game. We will create a new versions of the HOF Mod in the near future. Once the new versions are released we'll continue to accept the old versions for a month. royal62184 Jun 19, 2008, 10:37 PM No, it still counts as a BTS game. I'm working on my EQM and don't want to stop submitting games right now. royal62184 Jun 20, 2008, 11:46 AM http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=213555&page=20 the answer to your question is on page 20/21. Basically to sum it up don't install patch yet. Wait on next HOF mod. Even after a new HOF mod is released they continue to accept old HOF version for one month to allow you to finish started games. Read these pages to clear up any other questions you may have. In the meantime continue to play your games on 3.13. Methos Jun 20, 2008, 01:21 PM So should we wait to install the patch until a new HOF mod is available?? I'm working on my EQM and don't want to stop submitting games right now. If you wish to continue working on your EQM then I wouldn't patch. If you have the space on your HD, then I suggest doing a dual-install, that way you can have both 3.13 and 3.17. bestje Jun 21, 2008, 05:40 AM @ Methos: Have you any thoughts on what will be disallowed form the new options? Methos Jun 21, 2008, 08:25 AM @ Methos: Have you any thoughts on what will be disallowed form the new options? Yes :mischief: bestje Jun 21, 2008, 09:15 AM any you are willing to share now or is it going to be a surprise? I have no problem with surprises I'm just incurably curious BLubmuz Jun 21, 2008, 11:15 AM it means your palace will produce more culture and courthouse's come early on and you can run spies as pseudo artists. so it will make culutre games relatively quicker. it also makes it much easier to pop GAsI don't think so. Usually in culture games you're running CS, thus you can have all the artists your city can sustain. Yes, the culture from Palace and CHs will help, but i don't think you can save more than 1-2 turns in the end. But i'm a bit worried for my time games: too much culture can drive to unwanted cultural or domination wins. On the other hand, in those games you're usually pestered by sabotages. BTW i'm curious too. Mesix Jun 21, 2008, 01:52 PM Courthouses and Castesystem are both available with Code of Laws tech. Onagan Jun 24, 2008, 09:31 AM When will the new HOF Mod for 3.17 available? erikthecelt Jun 24, 2008, 11:33 AM When will the new HOF Mod for 3.17 available? The standard answer is "When it's ready" :) royal62184 Jun 24, 2008, 01:36 PM You guys could work with solver who is currently working on an unofficial patch and maybe roll up some of those changes into HOF 3.17 at the same time. Just an idea. bestje Jun 24, 2008, 02:07 PM a very good idea, i'm all in favour of less bugs and i'm sure anyone involved in making the unofficial patches would be willing to help out. BLubmuz Jun 24, 2008, 05:20 PM I've also read something on the new Global Warming system, and it seems a pain for every time game. Some chance to do something with the new Mod? Denniz Jun 24, 2008, 07:09 PM We are watching the bug reports and Solver's unoffical fixes. We'll release once we are sure things have settled down. We have a few fixes/enhancements of our own to do along with rules to handle the new option/map scripts. Wahnfried Jun 24, 2008, 10:31 PM The new earth2-mapscript seems to be interesting. I have generated a few maps with different sizes and they are looking earth-like. You have a great landmass (Europe, Asia, Africa) and a landmass looking like America. Will that script be integrated in the QM and EQM? If Firaxis has really added a global warming feature, they would have added a fun-killer...:):):) Methos Jun 24, 2008, 10:48 PM We will be taking all new map scripts into consideration. For now, we have not made a definite decision on any of them. BLubmuz Jun 25, 2008, 06:05 AM Since we're talkin' about the new HoF Mod, please remember my old request about the domestic advisor: I must switch between the "original" and the HoF ones to have all the info i need. It would be nice if you can include the turns to GP and the turns to next culture expansion in the HoF one, which for all the other infos is fantastic. Also, there's some chance you can improve the Vanilla and Warlords domestic advisors to match the BtS one? One more thing about the Foreign advisor: i'm now playing the SGotM7, and with all those civs you can't see the leaders' icons in the "Glance" head row: it's annoying, 'cause you need to mouseover to see which leader has that kind of relation. If Firaxis has really added a global warming feature, they would have added a fun-killer...:):):)No they not added it, they just made it worst: too much, it seems, even if it will affect only time games. Wahnfried Jun 25, 2008, 07:40 AM Do you can explain, how this global warming is working? Through overpopulation, pollution and nukes? Then it would be similar to the system included in Civ 1. After a certain time (60 million inhabitants --- i remember maybe falsely?), you had a pollution and a global warming, which was not stoppable. Although if you have even done everything to reduce pollution. bestje Jun 25, 2008, 08:53 AM I have read that it is related to nukes and to unhealthiness (apparently particularly factories and power plants) BLubmuz Jun 25, 2008, 09:41 AM I've found this link where they discuss the matter. It's not that interesting after the first posts, but you can have an idea. Wahnfried Jun 25, 2008, 04:11 PM I've found this link where they discuss the matter. It's not that interesting after the first posts, but you can have an idea. Thank you. I am a little bit new in gaming BTS. I favouritely played Warlords. ruff_hi Jun 27, 2008, 12:26 PM One more thing about the Foreign advisor: i'm now playing the SGotM7, and with all those civs you can't see the leaders' icons in the "Glance" head row: it's annoying, 'cause you need to mouseover to see which leader has that kind of relation.Someone working on the HOF mod should take a look at the work we did on Glance for the BUG mod. The squashed header isn't an issue for us now. oyzar Jul 03, 2008, 11:39 AM will the new mod be out before july 10th? I want to play 29th major, but i dont want to reinstall... bestje Jul 03, 2008, 01:09 PM I expect it won't matter its in the rules for the major that it can only be played in bts 3.13. changing mid game would be unfair. Sorry but I'd suggest playing in warlords or vanilla. WilliamOfOrange Jul 03, 2008, 05:41 PM Just my two :commerce:, but I don't like the idea of turning espionage off. Mind you I haven't read much about what that means in the new 3.17 patch, and I don't utilize espionage as much as I perhaps should when I play, but I figure that you play BtS as is. We don't have an option to play Warlords without using GGs, so why have EP-less BtS. Again, just my two :commerce:. Methos Jul 03, 2008, 10:03 PM The problem IMO with the 'No Espionage' option is the possible abuse of GPP points that are not defined. Mesix Jul 04, 2008, 09:30 AM Can't you mod out the extra GPP? bestje Jul 04, 2008, 12:02 PM If spy specialists are removed, all the espionage points and the wonders producing Gspy points produce another specific type of GPP points that would fix the problem Mesix Jul 04, 2008, 12:44 PM They all produce Culture!!! Courthouses for Major Gauntlet 29. BLubmuz Jul 22, 2008, 05:10 AM Since i guess you're working on HoF 3.17, to let you know i've heard something about barrage promoted tanks do not provoke any collateral damage. Some forecast about the 3.17 HoF mod? Denniz Jul 22, 2008, 06:00 AM We have been following the developments on the Barrage promotion in the Solver's unofficial patch (http://forums.civfanatics.com/forumdisplay.php?f=299). So far, the fix seems to cause other issues, though. We will probaby just disable the promotion for tanks. As for when the Mod will be ready? Soon. :mischief: |
