View Full Version : I can't wait :(
KAZUY4 Jun 22, 2008, 01:45 AM Damn, looks like July 8 is far far away :P. I'm so boring right now that I just recorded a quick video of a game, probably I'll record a couple of videos to show the new member of the civilization family how to get familiar with this game.

Sneerk Jun 22, 2008, 06:28 PM I guess some ps3 users are a little lucky in this one in particular since they can import it due to the region free-ness. But rarely is EU first on releases.

LOL, let's be patience :( there is only 16 days left.
Thunderfall Jun 22, 2008, 07:14 PM How many demo games have you played, KAZUY4? :)
Widowmaker313 Jun 22, 2008, 07:15 PM I have played like 10-15 :)
KAZUY4 Jun 22, 2008, 07:17 PM LOL too many, it is funny because since Revolution and Battlefield: Bad company demos are out I'm been playing just demos hahahahahahahah!!! Probably around 50 games, trying new things, finish the game with nukes, eco, cultural and domination, but it's so sad when you receive the message "you have 5 turns left" :(
PD: I'm a huge civilization franchise fan :D
Sneerk Jun 22, 2008, 07:18 PM My guess is that when KAZUY4 finally gets his copy he's bored sick of the game. "Meh, i think ill read a book instead". :p

LOL Probably. At least Bad company is coming out this Tuesday, so the waiting will not be that bad :P
Thunderfall Jun 22, 2008, 07:29 PM I probably have played 15 games already, using the demo. :)
Today I got to use tank for the first time, thanks to the The Knights Templar. I also got to used naval support. Cool stuff.
but it's so sad when you receive the message "you have 5 turns left"
That message always seems to appear at the worst possible time.
KAZUY4 Jun 26, 2008, 07:36 AM 12 more days baby!!!!!
salty mud Jun 26, 2008, 10:24 AM Anyone know why there is such a delay between American and European releases?
deathtollrising Jun 26, 2008, 10:56 AM i cant wait! This game is gona kik major Civ ass.
KAZUY4 Jun 26, 2008, 11:36 AM Anyone know why there is such a delay between American and European releases?
Dunno why, but is stupid. The Euros already have so much advantage in win/loss games scoreboard and experience in MP games.

Because we're the guinea pigs! By the time it comes out over there they will have got rid of some of the bugs. Although the same thing happened in reverse with Metroid Prime i seem to remember. The US version had an exploit where you could skip most of the game by going to a room you weren't supposed to be able to access at the start of the game. Ok that was quite random, I don't know why I thought to mention that in a civ forum. xx

The XBox 360 version of CivRev is also region free. I imported a copy from gameplay.co.uk after someone on my regular gaming bboard imported one and reported that it's not region-locked. It's probably not worth it at this point though. It took 8 days for mine to arrive (although I've heard some people have had more luck with only 4-5 day delivery).
RickWJ66 Jun 27, 2008, 05:25 PM I had a very well-timed vacation to Europe, which involved a visit to Italy. So I was able to get the Italian version of the game for XBox 360 (which, interestingly, features Ceasar rather than Napoleon as the center unit on the cover of the box). I was afraid I still would not be able to play with the game being in Italian, but I had a short layover on my flight back in London, where I was able to pick up an English version of the game at a gamestore at the airport. I was thrilled. As it turns out, both game disks play just fine on the 360 with no problem with region coding, and both play in English (probably due to the language preferences I have set on the XBox). (The instruction pamphlet for the italian version is, of course, in Italian, but you don't really need it.) So I have been playing away. (I suppose I could mail my extra copy to some deserving soul -- or if anybody lives in the SF Bay Area, they could pick it up from me . . .)
The game does not really compare to Civ IV, which provides a much richer game play experience. But it is fun to play just for a change of pace, and the faster game times make it easier to pick up and play a quick game. Deity level is not nearly as difficult.
KAZUY4 Jul 07, 2008, 07:05 PM 1 More Day!!!!! Bump Bump! :d:d:d:d
someguy486 Jul 07, 2008, 07:14 PM 2 days for me... :(

There is a danger associated with importing your games. I don't know if this applies to 360 games, but on the PS3 downloadable content from one region isn't compatible with the software from another region, or so I've heard. Someone on another forum that I frequent bought a game from the US, but was on a European PS3/account. While he was able to play the game alright, when a substantive DLC was released for the game and was purchased off the EU store (may have been a map pack, so I'm thinking it was R:FoM), it wouldn't sync up with the game off the disc. I remember him posting that he eventually had to go buy an EU copy of the game so the DLC would work.

Ouch. Well, we'll see how it goes. I started a new job today, so I think importing a copy, playing two weeks of CivRev, and getting it out of my system (I'm up to 570 of 1000 Achievement Points so far), instead of getting it on the US release, staying up late and showing up to the new job bleary eyed every morning, was probably the right move.
thedood123 Jul 07, 2008, 09:43 PM I have to wait for gamestop to get it on July 8, but they wont sell it until july 9!!!!:(

GeoffgoB Jul 08, 2008, 06:01 AM So where is the DS version then, does anyone have a definitive date for this yet?
ydejin Jul 08, 2008, 06:08 AM So where is the DS version then, does anyone have a definitive date for this yet?
Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/2K-Games-Meiers-Civilization-Revolution/dp/B000WMEEC6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&m=A1DBR0I0345XJ0&s=video&qid=1215515261&sr=1-3) claims it's in stock now.
KAZUY4 Jul 08, 2008, 07:18 AM Well, now I'm confuse.... I know the release date is today but is not going to be available until tomorrow, how come Gamestop called me yesterday saying that I can pick up the game today July 8th after 10am? I guess we are going to find out in a couple of hours
GeoffgoB Jul 08, 2008, 08:09 AM Sadly the Amazon.co.uk site still says pre-order for Aug 28th, you'd think someone could get their act together. All other uk internet game stores show the date as 28th Aug too! I thought europe was getting it before the US?

I'm almost positive that DS games are Region Free. So if we can import CivRev XBox/PS3 from UK to the US to get the game early, you can import CivRev DS from the US to the UK :) Added bonus, with the Pound killing the US Dollar, it shouldn't cost too much.
KAZUY4 Jul 08, 2008, 09:07 AM I just call Gamestop and they said that the game will be available after 2pm , they are just waiting for the shipment. I'm still have a chance to get it tonight :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
