Hi guys (first post),
I'm looking to buy Civ 4 for my Mac, but I'm confused.
At Amazon, there are two versions:
1. Sid Meier's Civilization IV by 2K Games for $29.99
2. Civ 4 by Aspyr Media for $49.99
What the heck?
I'm guessing #2 is the one to buy.
Help. :)
Thanks!:goodjob:

I'm not sure, but I guess that #1 is the windows version.
the Aspyr version is the (for sure) the Mac version.

Welcome :wavey:
Which one you buy depends on some factors that you haven't stated:
1. The second option - he Aspyr version - is the one that runs on a Macintosh in native mode. But it will not work well on some low-spec Macs. So you need to consider what kind of Mac you have, and whether it meets the minimum requirements.
2. If you have an Intel CPU in your Mac then you could run Windows using Bootcamp, and run the Windows version of Civ4. The Windows version of Civ4 will run on a lower spec Mac, and it will be compatible with more Civ4 mods. The bad news is that you would have to buy a copy of Windows to install in Bootcamp, and you would have to reboot your Mac whenever you want to run it.

LOL. Thanks.
It was about 4am and I should have been sleeping.
I was viewing MAC games at Amazon and that version was being displayed. I guess their Mac area isn't setup right.
All is good. :)
AlanH, I have a PowerPC with VirtualPC, but I'm guessing it's not near good enough. :)

A PPC is pretty questionable for running Civ4. Get ready not just for the bugs and shoddy porting, but a general sense of lethargy, too.

I run it on mine just fine.
However, I do miss out on BTS and many mods. Not sure what else is missing.
But, I'm not buying a PC and stuff just for Civ 4. :)
