We've finished Civil Service, and can now adopt Bureaucracy. I think we should do that. It'll improve our capital Arete.

Bureaucracy could do better than barbarism. But once vassalage comes I think we should adopt it, because we plan to have a nice army, correct?

I agree, Buracracy is good, but Vassalage is better. IMO

I'm not sure of that to be honest. It depends on when we'll get Feudalism (I don't expect us to research it, we should be able to get it from the AI), and what we're planning to do then. If we're preparing for war against Lincoln, then Vassalage is attractive. Otherwise, not as much.

It seems we are planning on a war, from the general response in the long term lincoln thread.

Can anyone post a screenie of Arete's :hammers: and :commerce: yields?

There was some talk already about adopting vassalage I'd also suggest serfdom. That will save money on civics and troops support so maybe we can bump science up.

Base commerce in Arete is 31 and 18 hammers, but vassalage will give 13 free units and serfdom saves 4 gpt.

Vassalage, I can agree to that, since we don't really have a strong capital, and we will need experienced troops.

Serfdom, that means quitting Slavery. Since we still have a lot of cities that could benefit greatly from slavery (Kassite, Venice, the Spanish cities, hopefully some Babylonian cities soon), I'd prefer to keep slavery. And 4 gpt isn't really that impressive either.

Vassalage and Serfdom, not Bureaucracy.
