Welcome to CFC, Grumbles! :)

You might want to fix that link (probably by adding a "www" in front of it). Otherwise, the site looks good and a PDF version of the map should probably help many people.

Nice. :) How did you generate the map image?

Grumbles69
Jun 23, 2008, 06:52 PM
Its just a mud map on excel, it does the job.

Is there anyway you could differentiate the green into grasslands plains and desert squares?

Grumbles69
Jun 23, 2008, 07:59 PM
The goal is to develop it over the next few weeks so that we can give all details, not just desert and grassland, but hills and rivers (offence +/-) as well as resources. Currently we are limited by the size of the grid squares on the map, a slightly different green might be the answer. Feel free to download and edit the excel document.

The only way for us to make the map is to play the map, it takes time.

Good point, but I don't have the game, and want to strategize 4 fun!

I have determined a way to show the tile properties by having a different coloured border on each square, next weeks GOTW map will reflect this change and I'll get your feedback as to whether it works or not

But how this exactly works? There aren't scenarios?

I start the game of the week 2 days ago, and I started like a normal match, with the tutorial. Probably I'm missing something? You need XBOX360 Live Gold to play it?

Cheers.

Hey Spencer and Grumbles - nice site, something the game should have really incorporated!

How do you get those BC scores? I only played King level best I could do was 1500AD even when i went for it from the start. Last weeks map, for example I could knock off the Russians really quick and the Japanese pretty quick but the French always held on with an archer army. The chinese weren't such a problem.

I'm down there in 9th place. :king:

This week's GoTW a lot harder I think?

What do you think?

My tactic has been Spanish - Indians but then the Japanese and Zulu's seem to get really mad.

I have posted a 2000BC time but I reckon I could possibly beat that. Thats on Diety. You need horse riding. and you need to know the map. and you need to always custom your workers because all the other options use food which is unneccacary to post a BC domination time.

Where you can download the map each week, and check out where you stand on the leaderboards. This is open to PS3 and Xbox 360 users and you don't need to sign up for anything!!!

There are also Posters, tshirts and Xbox360 Face Plates to be won (PS3 users will get tshirts instead). Feel free to ask any questions here, but please check the website first and click on the GOTW Awards button to see if they are answered there.

No worries... I will... it just seems a little important to hide at the end of this old thread... I mean you can win a Civ Rev Litho SIGNED BY SID MEIER... does it get any better. You are welcome to plug the comp somewhere on the site. I'll put a link to civfanatics on my front page if u like

Nice to hear your site mentioned in that polycast. Any thoughts of expanding on it? I know yer pressed for time, I'm just curious.

Grumbles69
Aug 03, 2008, 08:32 PM
This competition is the first expansion.... If you have other ideas let us know, im unsure what other GOTW stuff we can add. We thought about a tutorial, but decided its better to let ppl do it for themselves

Grumbles69, how are people suppose to join the competition? Just play the GOTW? There are probably lots of people who just play the GOTW but don't visit the fan sites or the official site...

Grumbles69

I will be PM'ing the Top 10 players of each of the leaderboards on Wednesday. That said, from the PM's I get most of the top ppl visit the website.

To answer your question, yes all you need to do is play GOTW. Next month there will be a comp to win GOTW a certain way eg maybe fastest Economic victory on Emperor, but for now its gunna be domination. The only info you need to give up is your mailing address if you win, All winners will be contacted through PM on the 360 and PS3 systems.
