I got this religious random event on a game with Saladin yesterday : I had to have at least one city on 13 different continents (can go from 1 alone tile in the ocean to huge land mass).
13 !!
I mean... 13 !!!!
I was already struggling to stabilize my economy with my 5 cities (all on the same piece of land of course), to prevent Shaka from crushing my empire and to try to keep the poor tech-lead I had, there was no way in hell that I could have achieved that quest.
But seeing the huge work it needs, I tend to think that this quest is very rewarding. So I was wondering if anyone has ever successfully achieved it and, if so, could maybe spoil it a bit and tell me if it's worth the effort. :)

Taken from http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=236727 -
Quest1:
Blessed Sea
Aim:
Have cities on 1.5*default number of players for this map size (10 for standard) landmasses while never switching State Religion
Result (choose one of 3):
1.convert 20 own cities to your state religion
2.gain a temple in every city size 5 or more
3.get on great prophet unit
Yeah, probably only worth it in very specific situations.

I see...
I'm a bit disappointed. :)
Anyway, thx a lot for the answer and for pointing that Random Events List Thread to me !

The free temple in every city above size 5 part is a heck lot of hammers saved. Besides, you keep forgetting about colonies. Settle the cities all at once, then turn them into colonies.
The other rewards aren't that amazing though.

That event should only trigger on Archipelago, IMO. On a lot of maps it is impossible.

I think before 3.13, i got the event on an inland sea map... They changed it in 3.13 iirc to not allow it on many maps.

I did that one before there were colonies. Settled 12 1-3 Tile islands + 1 other larger mass. I dunno how it would pan out now with colonial costs though, but it seems to me you don't get dinged for colonial upkeep until you have more than 1 city on the landmass... but I could be mistaken. I do know in my current game the most recent city I founded (which will have room for 3 or 4 more cities) has no colonial upkeep - yet the other island that is 3 water tiles away from my capital - each of those cities pay 6+ commerce for colony. Honestly it seems almost ludicrous that there are colony costs that close to your mainland :P
