Created for discussion about improvements, based on this thread
My complaints so far:
1. In case of a tie in interception chance, higher strength units should be chosen before weaker.
2. Two fighters in a dogfight always ends up with one going down due to the high damage per round.

I'll agree with #1 but #2 seems quite reasonable given that once engaged in a dog-fight there really isn't any safe way to disengage/retreat. Since Civ is a strategic level game (i.e, you can't bring in reinforcements a-la Top Gun) non-fatal air combat seems dubious.
At least with fatal combat you can actually make some progress toward air superiority in a reasonable amount of time. I'd rather lose and die so I can bring in another plane immediately as opposed to having to re-base the injured plane first.
3. It would be nice to automatically have a re-based plane go into intercept mode, though maybe with a reduced range component (treat them like SAM, only their specific tile or maybe half-range).
