Was playing a game with about seven AI when my cities started becoming unhappy. I did not know what was happening and all the city screen sayed was the usual overpopulation reasons, but there was one more. It said "The word thinks you are a villian. My cities keep becoming more unhappy and al the AI are pleased to me. What is going on and how do I fix the problem?
Thanks

did you go against an AP or UN proposal ("No, Defy Resolution")?
I would guess that could be the cause.

You defied a UN/Apostolic Palace resolution. The unhappiness will go away with time.

"The worLd thinks you are a villain". You defied a resolution. Everyone may have nice relations with you (you always gave them gifts, same relig, etc.), but then you pulled a Mugabe or a Achmanischad, and they got angry. I think if you click the control-tab button, you can see a list of "events" in the game, and somewhere there will be a notice that the UN or the Apostatic Palance had a resolution that you must have overlooked.

I thought it only goes away when you vote with the majority in another vote? Does it also go away on its own in time?

I think that the defiance unhappiness is the same as whipping unhappiness in terms of how it goes away.
