Do you want to see GEM to include leaderhead graphics, which would make the size of GEM to be more than 100MB?

Halt Jun 29, 2008, 02:41 PM I think like me, many understand the work involved for "color" vs making the scenario's and maps better. I choose figuring out how to make 1940AD as much fun as 1500AD Firestorm94 Jun 29, 2008, 06:39 PM Ok :) So far, the majority says No? quite surprise. i think mos people say no because they probably don't have super computers. i, personally, am more interested in a 3.17 patch compatible GEM. I don't think having custom leaderheads will require more computer resources. If I understand correctly, when a scenario is starting, it loads what ever is needed by the scenario, including the leaderheads used in the scenario, to the RAM. Since I am replacing leaderheads, the amount it is needed to load should not be changed. I have implemented Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito, Chiang and Menzies leaderheads in the 1940AD scenario. I don't feel the difference in terms of loading time. The only problem for including them in GEM is probably only the storage, upload/download problem. If GEM is to include just one leaderhead, it would reach the limit of 10MB each file in Civfanatic database. And of course, it would be a nightmare for people downloading the mod without boardband. Joshua67 Jul 01, 2008, 05:51 PM I think its a great idea.I also dont think loading time shouldnt be affected as youre just replacing them not making up new ones.Ill post my review on the other thread which i forgot to do. Thanks GK Joshua Genghis_Kai Jul 07, 2008, 11:16 PM Wow! The poll is shifting to the other end now. Genghis_Kai Jul 14, 2008, 11:59 PM Thanks everyone for the poll. I see the result as a diversified one on whether custom leaderheads should be included in GEM. What I am trying to do at the moment is to make separate downloads for each custom leaderhead tailor made for GEM. I shall write a small tutorial for how to incorporate custom leaderheads with GEM scenarios in the future. Sonereal Jul 21, 2008, 03:09 PM I would prefer it if the extra leaderheads were in the form of an addon instead of me being forced to download all the extra stuff that doesn't really affect my gameplay. Yes, after exploring a bit on AtomicGamer, I think it is more convenient for me to have a single add-on pack just for graphics. |
