Hi guys,

It seems there's a bug in the newest Civ4 patch.

I have the Civ4 Complete-version. I'm playing a single player game against 7 CPU's, the year is 1940 or so and I'm invading an opponent using mixed units, infantry and elephants etc.

My problem is this: While I'm able to attack my opponents 'old' units (archers etc.) with my elephants (i.e. also and old unit), the infantry will not attack.

Why is that?

Why does the AI have Archers in 1940 AD! Even if you're on settler, which I doubt because you haven't won by 1940, the AI has at least longbows or muskets.

The most likely cause is that the infantry have already attacked that turn. A unit can only attack once per turn unless it has blitz, and infanty can't get blitz.

By the way, in civ the "CPU"s, as you called them, are generally called the AI (Artificial Intelligence).

I have tried attacking for several turns. They will not attack.

Has anyone else experienced this bug??

Ok, so here's an attachment.

This one is my third 'full' game of CIV - so bear with me, I know it probably looks horrible! :)

The problem is this: After I have advanced to a certain point, my advanced units will no longer engage the opponents 'medieval' units, while my old units will.

E.g. look up north next to Munich. I have a machinegun next to an American knight. They will NOT engage. ARgh! I also have a 'massive' force in enemy territory - they also will not engage.

Hope you can tell me if this is a bug.

machineguns cannot attack - they are defense only units.
