Can you effectively remove religions from Civ4? I'm making a mod called "The Animal Kingdom" that involves species battling each other instead of of civilizations, and I don't want religions in there (I have a Civic type "Mentality" for civics). I don't care if they're there but inactive, but I don't want it in gameplay.

Is there a way to do this? I tried making it empty but it said I had to populate ReligionInfos. (I copied the structure but deleted all the ReligionInfo entries).

Either that or find some way to incorporate it into the mod. I might give each civ (species) it's own religion just for fun (make the spread rate high, remove spreading out of your civ, give it no bonus). I still would prefer it gone...

Thanks in advance.

Well, one solution might be to give all the religions a tech prerequisite of future tech and then give future tech a huge cost so that no one would ever actually reach it ... I don't suppose the animals in your mod would have any use for future tech?

This would be pure XML, so you wouldn't have to do anything with Python.
