With removing it, will the graphic remain? They look good (I think acrobat has a unique, has been a while since I played balseraphs).

Though unique names are pretty cool, just for the sake of theme *cough*.

Are you asking to just make Acrobats normal hunters with the same appearance instead of them being a unique unit? I agree, I don't even think they are different than hunters ability wise. I think the Sect of Flies are different than their equivalent champions, and should remain a unique unit.

I believe the same can be said about lizardmen as well. They are identical to a normal hunter.

I have a question about it:

Hellfire tiles, such as those created by the AC event, spawn Sect of Flies. If the Infernals are in the game, the Sect of Flies they spawn belong to the Infernal. But otherwise they are Barbarian units (I think... been a while since Hellfire occurred for me without Infernals in the game).
With the change, will the Hellfire spawns owned by the Barbarian State be orc champions instead of demon champions?

Lizard men should be given amphibious free, to make them unique and I don't think that would make them unbalanced.

It's possible, but I think Kael said you can alter a unit's appearance with promotions as well as civ type, and since Sects of Flies have the demon promotion (or at least they should), it should be pretty easy to make sure they come out right.

the problem of the graphics changing was fixed with the release of the new BTS patch. Using a new script provided with the patch, kael and the gang were able to make promotions completely affect the unit (both in the game and civilopedia). So now, the demon promotion ALWAYS makes a unit use the demon model, as with the elven, orcish, and dwarven promotions. So yes, since the sect of flies will have the demon promotion, it will not become an orc champion instead of a demon.

I thought sect of flies had a different...uh...combat modifiers than champs. They are 4 base with a +2 death or something right? That's different than the Champs base of 6, they really need to stay separate to maintain their uniqueness.

No, I jus finished a game, where I killed the Infernals quick cuz they're such a bother, and they still are Sect of Flies units. So, yes, they're still demons.

If you mean the Hunter UU, then I disagree. If you mean the Fall Further civs, then I say yes. But you'll have to talk to Vehem for the 2nd one.

The patch notes for the upcoming patch, j, state that the Acrobat and the Sect of Flies units will be removed due to not being unique enough.

They are removed as units, but BtS can apply unique graphics to base units based on the civ it belongs to. So they will keep the art, but not the name.
Sects will also keep the demon promotion, since that is applied to all Infernal units.

Both will lose their unique names and 'Sect of Flies' will become str 6 instead of str 4 +2 Unholy damage - that sums it up.

Oh, and pedia Entries. I think the pedia entry could be entered under champion under the subtitle "Infernal"

So, basically, they become Belsareph Hunter and Infernal Champion. Ok, I can live that. Yeah, that makes sense. Doesn't help uniqueness, but watever.

I liked the names... "Sect of Flies" just sounds cool, and the Acrobat adds some nice flavor to the Balsarephs, who could really use it, since mechanically they're not all that interesting.

I liked the name "Sect of Flies" too. Now it goes the way of the dinosaur apparently. :(

And, provided you use em right, the Belsarephs are a horror economic wise.

Yeah, although Sect of Flies wasn't very unique in it's stats it was unique because of it's spawning from hellfire, and I'd think that was a reason to keep it.

I agree. After all, it's a nice mechanic and adds flavour to the whole Apocalypse theme. I think we should keep the name and the mechanic with hellfire. But the damage is the same whether it's 4(+2 unholy) or 6.

So...same graphics but different names? Meh, wish they'd keep the names if they could. Even linguistic variety is variety. Also going to miss the death damage. I've been playing a Hyborem game and I've come accross some situations where the death damage was nullified. A very tiny difference, I'll admit, but it's in tiny details like that which keep my internal geek happy. I understand the need to clean out some clutter occasionally, but my question then is what gets added back?
