I have a source of incense in my city's BFC, a road leading to it, and a plantation on it. I just built a pagan temple, and noticed I didn't receive the happiness bonus. I looked at my city screen, and incense doesn't seem to be listed under its resources.

I'm positive that I should be getting it. Is incense broken?

You have to have Philosiphy researched to get any benifit from inscence.

What Guale said. Just like Copper, which requires Bronze Working to have any effect, Incense requires Philosophy to have any effect.

Also, if you build a plantation before you discover philosophy you may need to tear it down and rebuild it once you do. I've had that happen to me once, other times it seems to work fine.

Thanks for the info. I always wondered why it said it required Calendar and Philosophy, yet allowed me to build a plantation when I got Calendar. I thought that "research philosophy" tag on the un-plantationed incense was just an artifact from an earlier version.

Weird that it doesn't indicate that you need philosophy after you build a plantation on it.
