I was helping a friend get his achievements on deity...he kinda sucks at CIV REV.
I decided to go for the Economic/Diety/One City achievments.
I went to Beta Centauri and started as the Greeks.

The weird thing is no barbarians attacked me at all.
I never took any units out of Athens. I did see a battleship stroll by once. But other that that it was just pressing 'B' alot and change buildings/set great people.
After I won I reloaded a save and started attacking to get the culture/domination victory, and the barbarians started attacking as usual.

Seems like a good stroke of luck. :)
