Hi!

Worldbuilder has been working strangely for me in RoM, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't so I'm unsure whether or not its a bug thats why I made a new post about it.

Anyway what happens is that when I try to open worldbuilder from single-player custom maps, the map that the worldbuilder loads is not the map I'm playing at all. Say for example if I'm playing "Continents" and open worldbuilder as soon as the game starts it loads a map which looks exactly like it does as if I played a "Terra" or "Pangea" map.

What I get is map which is formed like a flat, long-square map. there is no water at all and in the middle of the map there is a great forest/jungle line which divides the map in two, the sides looking exactly the same. Anyway it's weird because this happens sometimes and sometimes it does not so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Below is a rather crude-cut picture of the map in worldbuilder. Like I said EVERY mapstyle I try in single-custom ends up exactly like this, I've tried pangea, continents, terra and even changed the cylindrical mapview to torrodial but it still ends up like this. it's funny because I used to have this problem sometimes and sometimes it worked, now I cant get it to work at all.

UPDATE: I tried rebooting my computer and wirh success!

At least the first couple of times, now that doesnt fix the problem and I'm back where I started...

UPDATE 2: Well, It seems like it isnt the worldbuilder causing the problem, I tried searching the map without opening worldbuilder and it is the same regardless. This is really a pity because it ruins my RoM gaming completely. I guess this is a bug after all. I tried doing the same thing on my other computer but the same problem occurs.

So I finally tracked down and solved the problem. The problem only occurred when I tried to generate a map greater in size than huge. However, I noticed this map script called "full of resources" which supposedly would solve the whole problem. And it actually did, I used full of resources 3.04 to generate genuine maps of all kind.

Anyway, I just downloaded the RoM 2.5, and now I have the same problem. The map once again looks just as the one I posted if I try to generate a map larger than huge. Now I tried to update my full of resources script in hope that it might solve my problem. Once again it seemed to work just fine, but at a second glance I noticed that the script didn't generate any desert or steps at all, which resulted in the loss of some vital resources.

I'm guessing that not everyone have the same problem as I do, but some are bound to. Why can't I generate maps larger than huge in RoM? Is there anything special you have to activate or some parameter that you need to change in order to play those map sizes?

Please guys (and galls?) give me some feed back here...! Am I the only one experiencing these problems? Is everyone else able to generate gigantic maps?

I have not had the problem you list with the map generation.

Giant and Gigantic map sizes do not work properly on some map scripts because they try to get world size info from DLL file and it has them only up to Huge size. Now some mapscripts do not look for this info and they work correctly. When I added new marsh terrain all the default map scripts started acting weird so I had to update them so that those maps know how to initialize Marsh terrain - though some scripts still doesn't know how to place that terrain. So if you are trying to use any mapscript made for BtS, it must be edited by adding inits for Marsh terrain and Peat Bog terrain feature. In RoM mapscripts which start with text RoM_ should work fine up to Huge size but Giant and Gigantic won't generate terrain correctly on some scripts.

Thanks for the replys!

@Ravenone
Are you using any custom map script to generate maps of the size giant and gigantic?

@Zappara
As you said, your map skripts works just fine with maps up to huge size. But as soon as you try to generate a map that is either giant or gigantic, the script malfunctions. I had the same problem back in RoM 2.3 though, but when I utalized the map script Full_of_Resources everything was fine, e.i. I could generate giant/gigantic maps. But after you introduced marshlands that script too has been acting wierdly. It still enables the creation of giant/gigantic maps, however, the script tends to skip desert and stepps terrain, but it is placing marshlands though.
Do you have any suggestion on a sutible map script that can generate RoM maps of sizes giant and gigantic?

RoM_Smartmap should be able to make Giant and Gigantic maps correctly. This mapscript is included with the mod.
