ITS NOW FINISHED

updated Scenario file http://www.atomicgamer.com/file.php?id=71143

Im making the finishing touches on a new scenario.
Asia 1919 a time of change in Asia, China & Siberian Russia is in turmoil with violent revolution. Japan Has recently taken Korea and Port Arthur and are now looking at Manchuria for the new colony. Mongolia face both the Chinese revolution and a possible Japanese invasion. Tibet tries along side with Mongolia to obtain independence but unlike Soviet backed Mongolia they have no support.
The Philippines under US control, French Indochina, Siam, British Far East Colonies, Nepal and Bhutan are watching on the sidelines will they get involved too?

The Tech-tree runs from 1920-1945 3 Era Left (first Era discovered)
Infantry Units Have 3 basic Advances
Rifle Infantry 8/8/1
Riflemen 10/10/1
Infantry 12/12/1
They have variations depending on what Unit line the Civ has.
Lines are Maoist, Boljevic, Imperial (Japan) Colonial (Euros) Are the strongest
Warlord, Independent, Rebel (white), Nationalist are slightly weaker
Only Soviet Russia, French, British, Philippines and Japan gets to produce tanks. Maoist & Nationalist China gets a few through arms deal (wonder production) All civs get Biplanes and light bombers, but only the same as above gets Fighters. British and Philippines get the Spitfire, Japan the Zero.
Ive tried to keep it historical so units available to each Civ are the ones they can get. Tanks are made up in many categories from the Russian T-37 Tankette to the Sherman M4 and the swamp crossing Japanese FB Light Tank.
The White Alliance starts with a few tanks and other Expeditionary units.
Ive made the Civs here a list

China
Nationalist China (Alliance 1)
Maoist China (Alliance 2)
Hunan Province
Guangdong Province
Yanan Province
Sichuan Province
Charhar Province
Shanxi Province
Jehol Province (Alliance 1)
Xinjiang Province (Alliance 2)
Qinghai Province
Tibet Province
Inner Mongolia
Shandong Province

Russia
Soviet Russia (Alliance 3)
Yakutia (Alliance 4)
Alash A. Khazakstan (Alliance 4)
Provisional Priamurye (Alliance 4)
Bash. Tajikistan (Alliance 4)

Colonial
British Far East Colonies
French Indochina
Philippines (US)

Independent
Japan
Nepal
Bhutan
Mongolia
Siam

Looks good, tons of players though. I'm worried about our friends with less RAM. As far as the leaderheads, it's my advice that you shouldn't bother with it. It makes your file HUGE, that's the voice of experience, my AFRICOMM scenario clocks in at 164MB (that's zipped too!) and it's due to the leaderheads (animated). Flags will work but I wouldn't know how to do that to be honest.

Yeah your prolly right i cant seem to figure the leaderheads out anyway and it will make the file smaller, where did you upload your 164mb AFRICOMM to?

Yeah theres alot of players but its not as consuming as it seems, not like a Europe map. Turns are just 2-3 minutes, i expected it to be alot worse

Screenshots work for me, I'm going to give it a shot.

That is if there was a link! If you're looking for one, Atomic Gamer is your best bet in my opinion, never had a single problem with them.

An easy way to make leaderheads is to make them a static image of a flag. it should be a small file since it is only one image in a flc.

I am guessing that you left out British India on purpose, to prevent make them overwhelming.
How ever, I think that you could probably include Afghanistan, it was already independent from Briton.

Yes giving India to the British would make them too strong, i considered giving them Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay and Madras to fill in the map a bit and give a sense of having an empire maybe Burma and Malaya isnt enough.

I do have Afghanistan made as a Civ, but the map curves in that corner so its only really Pakistan thats visible and the far north of Afghanistan.

Im close to having my test scenarios and changes made now

i still dont have the leaderhead thing under control and something tells me it will be way too timeconsuming to make that many leaderheads so im compelled to use the old ones. Its less pretty but im more consumed with making the rules and game more playable and for the start of the game historical, the end of the game is ofcourse up to the player

Flak509

my first test scenario with myself as mongolia, has the Soviets conquering all of central asia, but instead of attacking Yakutia they captured all the western chinese provinces including tibet and nepal. They are unstoppable.

So ive taken meassures to weaken the Soviets and give the smaller Civs a chance and a lil time before they get overrun. Infact the Soviets took Tibet before they finished Tajikistan off.

The Maoist's where destroyed by the Soviets and Japan, ive then made the Maoists stronger because they start out with a small piece of land and with a big enemy in the Nationalists.

I was just playing as the nationalist Chinese and DAMN THIS GAME IS HARD!!! Trying to fight the Communists and Xialing province is hard enough, but then I start getting the other chinese provinces aligning against me. The Japanese eventually go to war with me, allying with Shandong province!! Good game, but it almost gave me a heart attack.

haha yeah it aint easy, ive noticed that "Inner Mongolia" doesnt last for that until 1920 then Japan and Mongolia flaten dem, everytime

remeber you do have Jehol province on your side too haha great help they are. The communist chinese however have had i harder than the Nationalist in the games ive played, being captured by the Japanese or the Soviets

glad you like it, maybe i should recomend that the Agression level is played lower than normal

jbryant
Aug 03, 2008, 03:00 PM
I think, and this is just based upon playing it once, that the nationalists should be strenghthened a bit or maybe the communists and Xialing toned town a little. They come with a real killer stack to start out!

jbryant
Aug 03, 2008, 09:18 PM
Well, I lessened the aggression meter a bit and it's playing very well. This locked war with Xialang and the Commies is taxing though! I'm kicking some ass, but every now and again I get some goober going to war with me for no reason. No one has been completely destroyed yet and the Japanese were stopped cold by the Czarist alliance. Haven't heard a peep out of the Soviets yet.

Flak509
Aug 04, 2008, 05:23 AM
dont worry about the Xinang province they should get into other wars fast and they aint very strong. The main consern you have is the Maoist Army that thay start with, altho you get tanks, they dont.
If the Czarist civs have taken the main japanese force than thats good for you, they wont feel like taking other continental civs too fast then.

I can see from your screen name that you aren't from en English speaking country, but you should get someone to give you a hand. Also, the techs don't always correspond to something you would associate with them tech. Does Crack of 29 mean the stock market crash?

Oh, wasn't trying to imply any lack of care on your part haha! Hey you say "training exercise", are you military? If you can't tell from the picture I'm US Air Force, so it's always nice to see my fellow "profession of arms" warriors. But the scenario is good, I've wasted the better part of my break on it!

This may be a bit off topic but...
What sort of planes do you fly?

jbryant
Aug 06, 2008, 05:56 PM
Hahaha! That's the stereotypical question that all Air Force people hate! The vast majority of Air Force personnel do not fly planes. I'm an officer, but I'd rather not talk about my job specialty on an open forum. Sorry about that, but I'm at Beale, we have U-2, KC-135s and Global Hawks here.

Meteor Man
Aug 06, 2008, 09:22 PM
My bad. I should have known that being air force doesn't mean that you are a pilot. Sorry.
And don't worry about sharing your job over the internet, I l know how dangerous that can be. ;)

Your location is Beale AFB, CA, as in California? I used to live next to Camp Pendelton in Southern Cal.

Yes i am military, i did see your picture but i didnt know it was the US Airforce, i had my own Ceremonial uniform on for my wedding too, that was a blue & red Cavalry uniform.
Im in the Danish Army. Im in the Armoured Infantry and i drive a M113 youll know them i bet. Good old piece of machinery.

Ive only ever met US Army guys. We had a day on one of the missions, where we met up on a shooting range and tried out eachothers weapons and in the US camp to buy dvds and all the extra stuff we dont have a chance of getting here.

Haha thats allright its always nice to be busy. Altho we got pulled out of Iraq already.
A new unit just left my barracks to go to Afghanistan to take over from the old unit in the Helman province.
Funny enough our Prime Minister is the only european leader to have gotten into both wars and still manage re-election.
And thank you to the US Airforce for the accurate Airstrikes, as an infantryman i can tell you it really makes a difference to have good Airsupport.
