Hello, I am getting the hang of this game pretty fast. I lost my first 7 games, but won the last 4 (King Dif.)

Yesterday, I played a 4 1/2 hour game with Japs, and it was CRAZY. I started off like the usual, going around with warriors to find huts and barbarians, etc etc. I quickly made a settler, and made a city close to my capital. After a few rounds, I tried to take over Washington because I saw 2 warriors defending their settler, and I thought they would have not a lot of defense. Bad mistake. I declared war on the Americans, and tried to take over Washington, but failed. Not only that, I took my warriors out of my NEW city, and Americans just sneaked in thru the back. So, after almost 20 rounds, I was where I started... and things weren't looking good for me.

I couldn't even take my city back cause of Democracy, but that wasn't an issue because the Americans were sending 3-4 armies on to my way. I set up my defense, and waited for the inevitable...

I won the battles with defended pikemen on a choked hill. I countered and re-took my city. Not only that, by the time I did that, Americans had set up their 2nd city by now. While I was struggling with the Americans, the Spanish were almost half way to their Economic Victory. I wanted vengeance from Lincoln, but I knew had to stop the Spanish... quickly. I was WAY behind culture/economic wise, and my army was not the greatest... but I was tied 1st with technology, so I used that to my advantage. I quickly built an army of catapults and attacked Americans 2nd city, took over it. Then rushed another catapult army with pikemen army and went down to knock down Lincoln's doors. Some rounds later, took over Washington, and by now, the Spanish were like 7,000-8,000 gold away from winning. By a string of luck, I got a Great Person, and immediately finished the Manhattan Project.

Spanish were on their way to Victory, right when I came back into the game, and there was an American city between me and them, so I did what I had to do... nuke their most populated city with the most trade, trying to slow down their gold income. After the nuke, I rushed my tank army to the American City, raped and pillaged them.

Now, the Spanish needed only few thousand gold to their Victory, and they still had 5 cities, including their capital. I rush 2 tank armies to 1 city, and the other 2 down to their capital. Long story short, I take over both cities after some bitter fighting. After all the fighting that was done, I needed to capture 2 more capitals for my Domination Victory, but Spanish were on the "verge of winning."

No way, will I play half the game with 1 city, take over America, crush most of the Spanish, and lose the game after 2 1/2 hours to... Economic Victory.

I rush my 4 tank Armies to the Aztec Capital, take over those guys also. Now, I needed only 1 more capital to win. The problem was, that was the Chinese with their 101 Defense Riflemen. God damn.

It took me 1 1/2 hour to take over Beijing, because by now, I had 17 cities and it took forever to transport all my tanks/planes to Beijing, which was on an Island... but after 4 1/2 hours, I won my Domination Victory.

I started off the most aggressive, and ended up getting owned. Played smarter, and came back slowly. With determination, and some lucky great people/artifacts, I was able to come back from #5, to #1... :)
