I am currently shadowing DMOC's Immortal Boudica game. If you're familiar with the map you will know that Mao is close by in this game. In my session he is the score leader and vastly superior to me in terms of power rating. He is amassing armies on my borders. If I am to survive, I'm going to have to suck up to him. The question is, how DO I suck up to Mao Zedong? He's not fond of religions, and his favorite civic is the late game tech State Property. I get a +2 bonus at 1 AD from being budhist together with him, another +2 for the open borders and +1 for sustained peace putting me at pleased..... I'm not satisfied with his 80% peace probability at Pleased though. What can I do?

Get him into war with someone else.. if he already have enough on his hands nothing will stop him declearing though...

I would say try and bribe him to war with someone else. After all, that's what I did. The good news is that he can be bribed to war anyone who is pleased (so if Mao happened to be pleased with Pacal, you could still bribe Mao to war with him).

Good idea; it hadn't crossed my mind. A small problem is that the entire world adheres to Budhism except for Saladin (founder and lone fanatic hindu). It may be hard to find him another person to pick on. Worth a try though.

I am teching at a decent pace, though, so trading in some techs for my survival would definitely be acceptable.
