What about Civics? Does that go under "Features added"? How is that going anyways?

NikNaks
Jul 24, 2008, 03:35 AM
Ah, well spotted. I missed events as well

EDIT: Fixed.

As for the progress of Civics, I think what we have has been generally accepted.

i can't wait until this is out, i'm very sad that i don't know how to mod yet  if i knew i would have helped in any way! I long very much for this mod.

NikNaks
Jul 26, 2008, 06:58 AM
If you want to help out, you could play around with the XML and learn a little modding. That's how I learned :)

hevehoc
Jul 26, 2008, 04:07 PM
ok but i dont know anything about XML things, i am not sure what it is acctualy, but i'll check around at the tutorials.

My guess is you copy and past thing into the Assets folder of civ and creat a diferent one using the same codes as regularly.

Jul 27, 2008, 03:28 AM
ok it sounds like scripting for Empire Earth II, i tried it once.

NikNaks
Jul 31, 2008, 10:28 AM
Amogos, do you want to do some modding?

Amogos
Jul 31, 2008, 02:29 PM
Mod? Mod.. Mod! No, I'm very lazy and am busy writing a book.

A guy, and he does this thing... yes this is how I answer everyone.

Think 10,000 BC but way less real and way more interesting.

Anything I could work on?

(good learner and ideas-come-up-with -er, decent mapmaker, bad modder [I guess I *could* in theory take some time and learn SDK, but don't expect too much in the first few years)

Skell Jell

Maybe mapmaking

Checked out the Map thread

Skell Jell
Oct 08, 2008, 07:54 PM
Map thread is good. But it's only on the crusades. It could be included.

JEELEN
Oct 08, 2008, 08:20 PM
Actually, I was responding to UNPatriot. Checking out the map thread before starting to work on a map seemed like a good tip, 's all. (Kind of hard to work on a map if the mod won't load properly.)

Skell Jell
Oct 08, 2008, 08:32 PM
Ok. then. sorry.

JEELEN
Oct 08, 2008, 10:45 PM
That's alright. (Anybody can check out the mapthread if they want to.) But what do you mean by:

Map thread is good. But it's only on the crusades. It could be included.

Skell Jell
Oct 09, 2008, 04:19 PM
Ok then it sis a great wonderful thread.

JEELEN
Oct 09, 2008, 04:53 PM
Eh... okay... but... what do you mean by:

it's only on the crusades. It could be included.

Y'know, just wondering what you mean, 'cos I know them are English sentences, but I just don't get what you're talkin' 'bout. The crusades? What could be included?

Skell Jell

Where, presently, is this mod on the Roadmap in the first post?

NikNaks
Dec 17, 2008, 06:23 AM
We're coming up to 0.1 or 0.2 as it is. We're making real headway, now, though.

What do you want me to do?

Joecoolyo
Aug 02, 2009, 09:54 PM
Hmm... you should have posted this in the Current Status thread. But anyway, we're really in need of someone who can do python and sdk, so PM NikNaks and ask him what we need done in python (we're pretty much done with XML).

Mattygerst
Sep 24, 2009, 05:31 PM
NikNaks...been awhile since I sent you all the finished XML work...

Any word on getting the diploinfos completed so this officially gets up and running?...

NikNaks
Sep 25, 2009, 01:24 PM
I can't make head nor tails of it, if I'm honest. Does anyone have any idea how it works?

Mattygerst
Sep 26, 2009, 01:36 AM
Well... I mean, in that case...all that work will go for nothing and we'll be stopped just short of the finish line of getting the mod completed...

Someone needs to find someone who can get the diploinfos done to make sure all the rest of the xml work, etc., doesn't go to waste.

Pablod
Sep 27, 2009, 10:50 AM
just use 1940 scenario GEM and change city owners
make modern tech tree

NikNaks
Sep 27, 2009, 10:56 AM
That's exactly what we've done, but after adding new leaders, we need to change the DiploInfos file, or else it crashes. Does no-one have any ideas?

I don't know, i check the forum every day for updates and am still willing but i can only do xml and i think we need more Python/SDK modders to move on.

Mattygerst
Oct 09, 2009, 04:17 PM
No, the XML work is nearly done.

I did 99% of it, and its finished. There is ZERO python/SDK to do. None at all. All we're waiting for is NikNaks to do the diplomacyinfos xml.

NikNaks
Oct 10, 2009, 03:15 PM

Hi Niknaks, I haven't modded in a while, but I do remember I promised to help you out, although that never panned out. I know quite a bit about the diplomacyinfos.xml through my work on CIV Gold, so maybe I can help you out. What is the problem exactly?

NikNaks
Oct 13, 2009, 01:17 PM
On my birthday, too :D Excellent present.

Well, we just don't know how it works, and it throws up an error if I try to remove all the old leaders. Think you could fix it up for us? We'd be happy just to have default text for all the new ones, but it just needs to be made to work.

I have downloaded the whole thing and have looked through it, but I don't get why you want "to remove all the old leaders" from the diplomacyinfos.xml. Could you explain what you want to achieve by that?

EDIT: I see it now, I'll start editing some stuff.

Actually, most of the stuff we've added is stable. It's just the Diplo file that's causing issues, and Frank's tackling that now :D

It's taking a bit longer than expected, but I hope to finish it next weekend.

EDIT: I have added the CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml (as a txt-file). I haven't tested it yet and it needs XML text for first contact for every leader, but this file should work as intended. Maybe someone can start on compiling a first contact quote for every leader? XML like below

<TEXT>
