Once again, if I sound ''strange'' please Forgive me english isn'T my first language :)

So I started that 4th game at Emperor Level(No victory Yet), since I just wipped the AIs at monarch, wanting to write a Story and Tale here. I soon found out I was THE civ on an Island so I Stopped taking notes but kept playin ''Just a few more turns''. restarting the game this morning I decided, what the funk, I'll try that!

So for the first post, here's the Setup, a few notes, some Screensh... I Mean aerial pictures... and where I am now in 640 AD. I'm from Sherbrooke QC, Canada so I'm Mayor Du of the Sherbrookians, and Cities names are actual Streets names from Sherbrooke. We do Speak French in Quebec so some of them might sound a little French but Sherbrooke and around was originally populated by English from England and then by Loyalists in the ''American War of Independence'' so some cities (streets) names are english.

Map is standard Size with 7 AI, wet, warm, 4billions years. Barbarians are sedentary (I could already say they WERE). Victory conditions allowed are Domination, Conquest, Diplomatic, and I'm not sure if I disabeled Cultural.

In 4000BC Mayor Du founded Wellington, decided to bring his people to the victory, here is how it happens

183509

Glad to see that Dyes were availlable, Mayor Du could only see a bright futur for his tribe! Unfortunately, after Roaming around Wellington, setting a few more ''camps'' or Cities, Mayor Du soon found out that, the world wasn't as large as he tought... in fact the water was so near that Du wished he had a friend like Kevin Costner (Waterworld...) :P

183511

(This is where I Stopped takin' notes. Since then I discovered 3 littles islands around. I have a total of 13 cities, 4 Dyes including 2 traded to AIs for Philosophy and Horseback Riding for the next 20 turns(unless ''something'' happens) as of 640AD. I have 1 source of Iron and a Shrimp load of Horses. I know 5 civs so far, I got the greeks territory maps and I could forsee the roman boundarys up NE with suicide Curagh.

I'm researching Monarchy right now, Figured out I was WAY BEHIND in Tech since Sun Tzu is done And I'm still missing code of laws, currency and Monarchy. Money is breakin EVEN reseraching Monarchy at 40% in 23 turns...

183512

My plan is to struggle as I can right now... I'll join workers to cities pretty soon since everything is almost worked, keeping a few, to save on Unit support and then switch to Monarchy to save again. I them might be able to hurry up my researchs to get a ''Decent'' defense and I'll count then how many units I can support with my 13 cities under monarchy. All of that Might be fast since Mayor Du hasn't a lot goin' on.

I'll try to post later this week if anything goes on in the game or nothing goes on at work or in the house!

Since not a lot is Happening let's jump to 750AD

Mayor Du is well as extended as much as he can without sending Suicide Galleys and since the AI is SO ahead in tech, and seeing the territory Map of the greeks, Du figured suicide galleys were not a solution worth the price. So he focused on improvement for his cities.

At that exact moment Du had a flash ''I doubt anyone will visit my Island with ground units soon, and I've got that one source of Iron which could be of interess for the greeks, let's see how bad he wants it''

183686

Du was pretty please with the deal, even more that, althought not very fast, his people were Scientifics, they could figure out engineering on the same turn.
The Mayor couldn't trade engineering for any new techs but he saw that Indians did not know that. Koreans did not know for about Monarchy so Du figured out he was still late but there was Hope. He decided to put his 296 Golds in the hand of his scientists, 60% of the Sherbrookians Budget was now to get feudalism in 10 turns, costing 22gold per turn.

In 890AD, even though his people seem good, decided to go under Revolution to switch to Monarchy since he was planning to build some Defensive units to prepare for those Incredible boats that he had never saw roaming around his Islands.

In 1010AD Mayor Du made the point on his trades, he had again traded his only Iron source, still figuring no other Civs would land on his territory, he got Monotheism for his Iron and manages by trading his 3 exces Dyes and his maps (meaning he was late in tech since he had no Idea how to draw maps), well The mayor had a few dollars in his pockets, knew more about the world and thought of a tactic. AS soon as he could sail, he would go wait near the Greek/Carthage continent waiting for a war between them and a space to settle. Greeks owned the Leonardo Workshop and the Smith Trading Company, both of which Sherbrookians could really use. The Fact that Greeks had the STC also meant that Du was really late in tech

183688

The Mayor was still spending his money to finance his scientists, wanting to go for the lower half of the Tech Tree since according to what he heard, other Civs tend to research the other half. That's when he met a really well dressed man who claimed that every road in the world led to his Capital...

183692

The mayor had to think about this one, 35Gold wasn't that much but he didn't want to submit to blackmail... That's when he decided to go to the Wellington Market to get some beer...

Mayor Du, decided to give the 35G to the Polite Caesar and is journey continued

In 1130AD, the mayor Managed to get Chivalry against Horses for 20 turns... makes sense to me!

But then Du was caught off guard
183753

Sherbrookians were not ready to try to settle on a far away continent so the mayor decided that he would, for now, stay peacefully on his Islands.

That'S when he managed to get the Roman territory Map, and realized something...
183754
Rome is HUGE and they seem to be kicking some English lower back.
That's when Du decided to look at the scores and it looked something like that: 6th out of 8. India and Korea are probably doomed. Greece and Carthage are reachable and they are at war with each others SO I might pass one of them soon
183755

In 1180AD, Mayor Du, who still haven'T build any military except a spearman per city, decided to Once again, trade his only Source of Iron, to the greeks, for Theology, 265G and their world Map, which is the whole world Map!
183758
The English are indeed Dying and the Iroquois don't look so strong so Du trade them Dyes and 420G for Education.

In 1260 Greeks and Carthage make peace, in 1265, they get back to War.

The AI tends to research the lower half of the middle age tech tree... Feudalism, Engineering, Invention, Gunpowder. They don't like to research Chemsitry and Physics, but they do like Metallurgy and Military Tradition.

Dude... you got pwned!

I couldn't agree more! :P But would it be possible to beat the AI when you are the civ starting on an Island on continent ?!?
Well I never beat emperor... and I don'T think I ever played an entire game on the Island on lower levels. Anyway My new game is going way better! I'm off !
