I just won this one in 1769 on monarch. I'm including some screenshots behind the spoilers.

This was a high Earth likelihood game with the largest possible world.
The English UHVs were very similar to RFC.
1) Be the first into the industrial and modern eras. I did this by beelining for physics and radio.
2) Circumnavigate the globe. I had optics well before the rest of the world. No problem here.
3) Found 15 colonies. See behind the spoilers.

Europe:

Rather than be on Islands, I was on an easily defensible peninsula in Northern Europe. Notice I lost Bristol to a Portuguese spawn. France is exiled to the Tundra and was a non-factor in my game. I never saw the Vikings, so I had a very peaceful game.

N. Africa:

This is where my first two colonies were built, well before I even had optics. I found the Indians near by. Apparently they spawned in this world's equivalent of the mid-east. Nearby are the Mali and Ethiopians.

S. Africa:
Wonderful land area. Its underdeveloped because I focused my workers on N. America.http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=184129&d=1217283317

S. America:
Found the Incas on the East Coast. I forced them into capitulation with my conquerors and founded some cities.http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=184132&d=1217283542

N. America:
The Aztecs were land-locked, and right near the ruins of the Mayas. I also forced them into capitulation with the conquerors event. Note that Toronto is founded what I think were the ruins of the Mayan capitol.http://forums.civfanatics.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=184131&d=1217283542

Other notes:
I was ridiculously ahead in technology. In RFC, usually France is a strong competiter to beat me into the industrial or modern eras. I think they were weaker because they got crummy tundra territory. The Dutch were pretty far behind too for some reason.
The personalities of some of the civs seems to be a bit different. For instance, Portugal and the Netherlands never opened their borders to me no matter how much they liked me. Also the Mali never wanted to trade techs. But this may have been because I was so far advanced.
There were a number of wars in Eurasia that I mostly ignored between Greece, Russia, Rome, and others.
The Americas spawned on the NW coast of N. America, and not near nay European civ. They didn't appear to flip any European cities at all.

Overall, this was a blast. I really enjoyed the exploration part of the game.

Seems that AI doesn't do a good colonization job so far...

Yeah, I wonder about that. Either there is a lot more possibility for old world strife, or in my game, they just were so far behind in technology that I got the good spots, and gifted tech to my inca and aztec vassals to keep them up to speed.

Hm, at least they are still given their colonists.
