View Full Version : Trouble With Buildings
Azmorg Aug 03, 2008, 10:40 AM Here's a problem I've never encountered before; hoping someone else has.
In a scenario I'm working on, I've added numerous buildings. One, I had set-up to require another building be present. But I realized I had set the required building to be made available at a later tech. I thought that was pretty silly, so I changed the first building to not require any other buildings.
Now, it doesn't appear in the city building queue. I've checked and rechecked the editor and the pediaicons file, but to no avail. I just can't figure out why this one can't be built.
Has anyone else encountered this?
Thank you for the help.
Vuldacon Aug 03, 2008, 11:41 AM Do you have the building set in the editor with an Advance that you have not reached yet when checking the build queue in your game?
Are you playing a new game after changing this building?
...What settings do you have set for this building?
We need more Details.
Civinator Aug 03, 2008, 11:47 AM Yes, more details are needed, as a lot of settings could cause such an effect. May be this building was accidentaly set to another perequisite, that is not yet available (a special resource ot governement for example).

No.

Yes.

It requires an advance and two resources. All three conditions have been met.
My consternation is that adding buildings is relatively simple, and I am not a newbie at adding them; been doing it for years. So, any of the standard solutions have been checked & rechecked. That's why I've posted the question. The standard solutions aren't fixing the problem.

As you can see, it all checks out.

Wolfhart Aug 03, 2008, 02:33 PM You have given the building a bombard combat value. Do you know that this is what makes City walls unbuildable for larger cities? Your castle is only buildable by cities of size level 1, so it won't show up in the build queue of larger cities.
Vuldacon Aug 03, 2008, 02:37 PM I only see one Resource Required... Stone.
ah yes..the Bombard setting may be the Cause.

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. So I give you a picture: :wallbash:
Thank you very much Wolfhart. This is of course the answer and I should have seen it immediately.
Vuldacon:
I changed the biq in a futile effort to see it changing something, anything, would snap it out of it's stuckness.
Thank you all for your help.

Think nothing of it, I still owe you big time for all the fun I've had with Camelot! :)
Azmorg Aug 03, 2008, 06:09 PM Interesting you should mention CAMELOT!, for it is the version 2 that I am doing this work. I have everything ready and am just doing some game testing. Perhaps I will tweak the scripts.txt file, but after doing a completely new civilopedia.txt file, I'm not so sure. Anyway, if the Castle works this time, I should be able to upload in a week or so.
Thanks again.
Balthasar Aug 04, 2008, 02:15 AM I'll be curious to see what you do with Camelot now, given all of the great units that have come on line for that era since you did the first one. Count me in as an interested observer!
Azmorg Aug 04, 2008, 10:31 AM Yes, there are quite a few new units. And new buildings & wonders.
However, overall its more simplified, and I think more enjoyable.
