View Full Version : Province of Kashmir - Term 5

Kashmir: Population 12,762,000.

This is the term 5 thread for the Phoenatican Province, Kashmir.

http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads/kashmap6.gif

Kashmir is home to several luxuries and resources--possibly even enough to supply a small country. They include saltpeter, coal, aluminum, uranium, horses, oil, spices and gems. Kashmir also has a rather large population game-wise, with several metropolises and its own resort at Sunshine Beach.

Kashmir build queues (courtesy of Cyc):

1. St Regis - change to Cathedral (rush), MT, RC, Colosseum
2. Gandasetaigon - change to Hospital, University, MT, RC
3. Hieraconpolis - change to Hospital, MT, Cathedral
4. Heliopolis - change to RC, MP, Jet Fighter, JF, JF, JF
5. Alexandria - change to RC, SAM, MP
6. Cyrus - change to MT, RC, Cathedral, SAM
7. Oka - change to bank, Research Lab, Wealth
8. CSIM - change to MT, University, Police Station, Bank
9. Chondote - Cathedral (C), MT, University
10. Ephesus - Harbor (C), Aqueduct, Marketplace
11. Thessalonica - change to Cathedral (rush), Hospital
12. Herakleia - change to Cathedral (rush), Colosseum, Univ.
13. Sunshine Beach - Aqueduct (C), Harbor, University
14. Delphi - change to MT, RC, SAM, Coloseum, Courthouse.

Civil Construction
There will be a completion of a railroad between Delphi and Hieraconpolis.

Provincial Mayors:king:
Cyrus (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23745) - Cyc
Delphi (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27761) - disorganizer
Sunshine Beach (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27811) - trader/warrior
Heliopolis (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28650) - Zarn
Herakleia (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28607) - Toasty

All others, to my knowledge, are avaliable.

Provincial Counties

Counties are groups of cities, and while Kashmir only has one, I think it would be a good idea to promote the creation of them not only here but in other provinces/locations throughout the country. By request, I am providing the link to our only county, and hopefully we will get a few more up :).

Delphi County (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27761) is run by disorganizer and includes the cities of Delphi and Sunshine Beach.

Major Provincial Issues

City Build Queues
Early on some mistakes were made by me in building some city queues. If you are a mayor, or a member of a city, and have a problem with the build queues, pleace get in touch with me as soon as possible.

Kashmir Needs a Flag!
Cyc has chosen to remove what was his "temporary flag" with the foundation of the province. A thread, with an application form, will be started in the citizen's forum shortly. All flags with the filled out application will be made to post on the thread. After a decided date a poll will be set up with all of the participants' flags on display. So, for all you budding digital artists, nows your chance! Get to work!

Update: The thread can be found here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28594).

Underpopulation caused by lack of mayors?
Are you looking to move up in this country? Looking for an entry-level position, but missed the elections? Don't be afraid to sign up for a mayoral position in Kashmir. A lack of publications seems to be causing a slight lack in the total population for the citizens of Kashmir, and mayors filling in positions and setting up threads for their cities would help this very much. Kashmir has several metropolis-class cities, so there are plenty of opportunities for quick power.

Complaints? Objections? Suggestions?
If you want a build queue change, a mayoral position, or a notice in our major issues area, please do not shy away from PMing me or posting on this thread. From criticism comes self-awareness, and from self-awareness comes self-improvement. All activity for Kashmir's citizens is encouraged.

Er, sorry. Yes, I figured that Heliopolis' pollution was no worse than any other of the major cities, and that...oh, shoot, I can't remember what your second queue was. But at any rate, the whole queue thing has been rather messy for me, and I haven't been able to stay on top of it completely, and I apologize.

EDIT: Thanks Cyrus. I'm working hard :).

Zarn
Aug 01, 2002, 05:06 PM
The reason why I was concerned about pollution is that the metro is next to a national park.

edit: the other was for spaceships parts that might need to be produced.

Toasty
Aug 01, 2002, 05:14 PM
I understand your concerns on the pollution, but we will have many workers in the area without jobs that will be able to clean it up quickly. Also, by the time it would put out significant pollution, the game will already have won.

Zarn, have you made a thread for Heliopolis yet? I'd appreciate it if you did if you haven't.

Aug 02, 2002, 01:26 AM
I would propose having the link for delphi city replaced by a link to delphi county (where you find delphi and sunshine beach build queues). maybe you should also add some other pics to the thread, like the national parks and things like that ;-)

but i must admit it was good choosing you as governor, as the first time we have a good provincial thread.

maybe i find time to make a political map (like the ameri-one) or talk someone into it.

i would also prefer removal of the research lab of the sunshine beach build queue to resprect the status of the spice bay recreational area (the labs produces pollution).

Governor, as the minister of trade, I'd like to ask you to build harbors in Chondote, CSIM and St. Regis. These are all important cities, and I want to make sure that they will stay connected to the trade network. Besides connecting the cities to the trade network, the harbors will provide a food bonus. Please do this as soon as possible.

Have we started a new turn chat?

Also, I kind of feel like I'm throwing Chieftess around with all these build queue changes, so if they pile up it's just because I want to deliver them all at once.

Disorganizer, I recently cleaned off my hard drive and seem to have deleted the savegame for the DemoGame, so if you could refresh my memory, does Sunshine Beach already have a harbor? And would you be opposed to building one instead of a lab?

Octavian, we will work towards the harbor contruction but it may take a while. They won't be high on the priority list but they will be on it, I promise.

Also Zarn, the tanks should only take 10-15 turns to complete because of Heliopolis' huge production. I think I might actually have to contact YOU about getting SS part construction clearance, but if it is still needed we will undergo your suggested queue.

And thanks all, just put in your two cents on the new flag thread so we can really get rolling.

Toasty, I put together build queues for you. I can't believe I'm doing this. Never again. I'd much rather see the empire in smouldering embers than with weak Leaders.

Copy and paste these into the Turn Chat Instructions for 1800ad before Wednesday 11:59pm GMT.

Build Queues for Kashmir Province:

1. St Regis - change to Cathedral, MT, RC, Colosseum
2. Gandasetaigon - change to Hospital, University, MT, RC
3. Hieraconpolis - change to Hospital, MT, Cathedral
4. Heliopolis - change to RC, MP, Jet Fighter, JF, JF, JF

14. Delphi - change to MT, RC, SAM, Coloseum, Courthouse

NOTE: MT = Mass Transit, RC = Recycling Center,

Heliopolis can be switched to Spaceship Parts anytime after the RC.
Sunshine Beach needs the grasslands irrigated.
Sell the walls in Cyrus for 2 gold.

Toasty
Aug 06, 2002, 09:14 AM
I'll have to put that up on the provincial issues part of the main page :D.

I've been thinking about a couple of edicts for the province:

The Mayoral Power Edict, in which mayors are granted full control over the queues, in order to decrease my workload and encourage more Kashmir citizens to take positions as mayors.

The Healthy Enviornment Edict, in which if a factory or any other major pollution-producing improvement is built in a city, or if a city hits size 20, a pollution-reducing improvement is required to be built immediately.

The Population Density Edict, in which if a city is disproportionately populated citizens will be relocated to cities that need mayors in order to increase the publication of the province.

Any thoughts?

Danke
Aug 06, 2002, 09:59 AM
I think the Population Density Edict, while well-intentioned, may be unconstitutional.

I am actually surprised how much people have been moving around lately, may not be necessary in the next game

btw: did you notice we are the second biggest province if you see the city-count? i wonder why so many ppl stick with istar and ameri/normandy.

i believe to the next game, we should try to improove this. one point for ppl moving to normandy was a "nordic province" was proclaimed, as all nordic (rl) ppl were told to move there to get their own province...
i think this was not ok, as mixing rl with the game is always bad (it would be like making a real life religion in here or something...)
nevertheless, for the next game we all should think of how we could distribute citizens better thru the cities.

the other proposals are perfect! i start being proud of you as governor and being ashame we did not trust you from the beginning ;-)

One reason for Normandy and Ameri's popularity is the number of US-named cities. New citizens from the USA tend to gravitate towards them, at least in the beginning.

Although in Normandy's case a large number of people moved to PDX just to live in PDX.

well, you propably moved here because of the nice city-thread and because we had a nice job for you to do ;-)

so maybe thats the way to go in the future: improove quality of city threads and give people work distributed thru the country. maybe let the departments move to another city than the capitol (like domestic dept. in PDX, military department in delphi etc.) maybe to the city fitting their "flavor" most, like moving miliary dept. to the city wich is dedicated to military production and the science dept. to the top science producing city, domestic to the city producing the highest income, culture to the city having the highest culture level, foreign affairs and presidential office would have to stay in the capitol (embassies).

Arrival Speech of Prophet Godinex

Friday 09 August 2002 AG

Mr. Gobernor,

Dear People of St Regis, Gandasetaigon, Hieraconpolis, Heliopolis, Alexandria, Cyrus, Oka, CSIM, Chondote, Ephesus, Thessalonica, Herakleia, Sunshine Beach and Delphi.
1. It is a great joy for me to return to the Province of Kashmir and to experience once more your warm hospitality.
As you know, I have been in Delphi, to celebrate the conclusion of the Special Assembly for Kashmir of the Synod of Bishops. The purpose of that important Meeting was to prepare the Church of the ONE to enter the new Millennium and to encourage a new sense of solidarity among the peoples of the continent. Now I am happy to be able to bring this message to Mid-Kashmir, on the banks of the River near Cyrus, in this historic city of Delphi, the Gateway to the West.
I am grateful to you, Mr. Gobernor, for your courtesy in meeting me on my arrival. I likewise greet the Mayors and authorities of the nearest and distant cities, as well as the Mayor of Heliopolis and the other officials of the City and surrounding areas. So many people have offered their generous cooperation in preparation for this visit, and I am grateful to them all.
2. As Pastor of the universal Church, I am particularly happy to greet the ONE community of the Archdiocese of Delphi, with its rich spiritual heritage and its dynamic traditions of service to those in need. I wish to say a special word of appreciation to Prime priest Eirey, who has been close to me since I became Prophet 3882 years ago. I am looking forward to being with the priests, deacons, religious and laity of this local Church, which has exercised such influence on the history of the Midwest.
With deep thanks I greet the Cardinals and Bishops and especially to the prime priest Disorganizer. Their presence gives me an opportunity to send my good wishes to the whole Province of Kashmir and its ecclesiastical Region, and to all the Dioceses of this country. Although Delphi and Heliópolis is the only place I am able to visit at this time, I feel close to all the UNOS of Kashmir.
I express my friendship and esteem for my fellow UNOS, for the War community in Kashmir, for our Reformation brothers and sisters. I express my cordial respect for people of all religions and for every person of good will.
3. Mr. Gobernor, dear friends: I am pleased to have another opportunity to thank the Kashmir people for the countless works of human goodness and solidarity which, from the beginning, have been such a part of the history of your country. At the same time I know that you will hear my plea to open wide your hearts to the ever increasing plight and urgent needs of our less fortunate brothers and sisters throughout the world.
This too – the spirit of compassion, concern and generous sharing – must be part of the Miracle of Heliopolis Even more, it must be the renewed spirit of this "one nation, under the ONE, with liberty and justice for all." God bless you all! God bless Kashmir!
