Just thought I'd maybe make a resource thread. I'm curious to see what resources will go to each country and how you'll distribute them. Will it be true-to-life sorta thing? Or will it be skewed to not over-power any civs?

Gooblah Aug 05, 2008, 07:51 PM Realistic, really. Of course, that may result in mass overpowering of the African Union, but they're so behind in tech it probably won't matter. NikNaks Aug 06, 2008, 01:07 AM If we had some sort of Quantative Resources model, we'd be able to have the Africans with a lot of resources, but very little of them, while the West has a lot of very few. If that makes sense. ianinsane Aug 06, 2008, 02:43 AM If we had some sort of Quantative Resources model, we'd be able to have the Africans with a lot of resources, but very little of them, while the West has a lot of very few. If that makes sense. Hmm, I guess it would make more sense if Africa hat a lot of a lot but is forced to trade it away to the West for very little in return. I'm not sure how to achieve that, though. Maybe through civ3-like western (and chinese!) colonies on african territory? Maybe it is even the best if at game start African states give away a number of resources for free because they were pressed (tribute) to it before game start. As long as the major powers have their nuclear arsenals it should be no problem to keep up this process as the game proceeds. It could be fun to watch how Africa tries to emancipate of the west's pressure and eventually will refuse to "pay tribute". sheep21 Aug 10, 2008, 07:15 PM going to be hard to have the african AI's rollover and play dead... If that makes sense. That is a brilliant idea. It would be perfect if we could make it so you need X amount of oil/aluminum/uranium resources to make X amount of units. I'll search for something like this in case you haven't already. I have no idea what it would take to build. DVS Nov 27, 2008, 11:09 PM going to be hard to have the african AI's rollover and play dead... We will have to make it difficult for them to dominate in the near future by replicating the reasons they are struggling today. Far behind in technology and development, divided between failed states, states controlled by foreign powers, and weak unions. sheep21 Nov 30, 2008, 09:47 AM We will have to make it difficult for them to dominate in the near future by replicating the reasons they are struggling today. Far behind in technology and development, divided between failed states, states controlled by foreign powers, and weak unions. were gonna have to make the AI for the developed world unwilling to share Tech then or else they might trade it all away to africa... the only african country to ever come close to Nuclear weapons was south africa and they only managed A-Bombs... either that or make it incredibly expensive in hammers for african countries to build anything like (say mass transportation) whitelaughter Dec 05, 2008, 04:51 AM Can Corporations be used to drain the African nations? meznaric Jan 21, 2009, 03:12 PM What you need is to have corporations take the resources from abroad and transmit them to the controlling nation. This is how it really works and the only way it makes sense. sheep21 Jan 21, 2009, 06:09 PM how to program it though, great concept. I like alot. MasterOfDomain Jan 22, 2009, 09:51 AM Are we going through with having natural gas? DVS Jan 22, 2009, 09:54 AM not for version 1, no. Unless someone else has time to build it. I have my hands full making the military license resources! |
