Howdy, I've recently come back from a Civ hiatus. I would appreciate any suggestions on mods to play, I love vanilla civ as much as anyone but... well I think we all understand that it's a little lacking.
I'd like a mod that brings a lot of focus onto the modern age with new units. I've been playing Rise of Mankind which is absolutely great, but I don't like the future age. Cyborg armies and mechs is a little too much for me, I like to play with modern units. A mod that has the same elements as RoM w/o the future age would be great.
I'm playing BtS latest version and don't have warlords. DCM and ranged bombardment is a must :)

Tks in advance

BAT mod is cool. It contains the Bug mod as well. Lots of good information available to you via it. No crazy game play changes, just more friendly user interface.

Really wish Sevomod worked with BTS though. That added so much to the tech tree and new resources.

There's always the Wolfshanze Mod... it focuses on improving the naval game by a good amount, as well as WWI tanks and planes... the whole game from Ancient to Modern times does get a significant graphical improvement though... base gameplay is almost identical to regular BtS... no crazy tech tree realignment or massive overhaul of base gameplay... mostly some new ships, more WWI equipment and graphical improvements... link for mod is in sig-line.

No, but Merged Mod does, which is based off the Wolfshanze Mod.

Merged Mod is usually a release or two behind the normal Wolfshanze Mod though... I think the current Merged Mod is still for v3.13 of BtS, while the current Wolfshanze Mod is for BtS v3.17.

I find it incredulous that there's so many graphics available for download and yet not a single extensive modern age mod?

Although it may not add anything specifically to the modern era, I still would recommend Blue Marble. It makes the terrain graphics (and leaderheads & interfaces too if you want) look so much better than the original ones :D

Dude... seriously... Extra mod... it has some extra techs AND some futuristic techs curtesy of the Final Frontier mod. If you want an enhanced version of original BTS, I'd choose Extra (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=234906).

I would also suggest Next War: Revolutions (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=264935), but it's a release behind with no signs of being upgraded. :( That mod totally obsoleted any other mod relased that didn't feature a Revolution mod component.

There is also a Revolutions mod pack by jdog5000 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171127), and again, it obsoletes any mod pack ever relased that didnt feature a Revolutions mod component (because this IS the pack from the component creater himself), and it will continue to obsolete any other mod pack released in the future (without a mod pack). Bascially, any mod that enhances on how you play the game itself is a worthy mod to keep.

Also don't rely or mods that enhances only a specific era (except futuristic, which in Vanilla BTS, there are none), they don't really enhance anything for a game that lasts up to that era.

That's pretty much it. Take it for someone that currently has 100 different mods on his computer.
