Is it possible to play RoM without the future era techs/units? I don't much like the mechanics or units of future era and don't enjoy it much. I do like the modern age and the unit mix, so if it's not possible to play w/o the future era, could anyone suggest a mod that incorporates the same variety of units for modern times?

I imagine it's possible to do this, if you want it badly enough, by choosing a point where you want to cut off the techtree, and then edit the techs in that timeframe so they require something farther down the tech tree. For instance, you could make Cloning and all of the early future-era techs require Future Tech.
Mind you, this is just speculation; I don't know if it actually works. Though if there is an easy way to do it I'd love to know about it myself because I don't like sci-fi stuff very much.

I don't really have the time or the know-how to edit a mod, hence i'm at the mercy of the mod-makers. The future era just kind of kills the game for me, everything is so ridicolously overpowered that you can steamroll any opponent who isn't as up to speed as you, or if the computer is ahead of you he can do the same to you.
I do like the modern era units/techs so if RoM can't be played without the future era i wonder what mods out there add more units/techs to modern times without getting silly with the sci-fi.
