View Full Version : Golden Age and Civics
Virtual Alex Aug 07, 2008, 11:44 PM I was under the impression that during a golden age you could switch civics without anarchy. But when I did it, I had to suffer 4 turns, OUT OF MY GOLDEN AGE of anarchy.
Is this a patch issue or what?
King Flevance Aug 07, 2008, 11:58 PM No its a game feature. Golden Ages don't grant this. Avoid anarchy in GAs. I usually setup my civics how I want them before entering. Some of my favs are Theocracy, Vassalage, Beuraucracy (sp?), Universal Sufferage, and Free Religion. Depends on what I am trying to do though and the time period.
Virtual Alex Aug 07, 2008, 11:59 PM What the heck, than what am I even talking about? I could have sworn I read that somewhere.
King Flevance Aug 08, 2008, 12:17 AM BTW, what is the purpose of the site in your sig?
Clam Spammer Aug 08, 2008, 12:19 AM I'm pretty sure this is a BTS feature. I don't get it either :(

Haha, sorry. That used to be my website. But I just took it down this year. I used to be an active poster in the Civ 3 forums, but I have been off this forum for about a year. I guess this account is a big old. I will fix my sig.
King Flevance Aug 08, 2008, 12:37 AM Ah. Hehe, I was just wondering because it seemed like one of those filler sites. I honestly thought the site had yet to be "publicly opened."
MrCynical Aug 08, 2008, 05:15 AM Is this only in BtS then? You can definitely switch civics in a golden age without anarchy in all BtS patches, and I thought the last vanilla patch brought most mechanics in line with BtS.
Joshua368 Aug 08, 2008, 07:48 AM Yes, switching without anarchy in golden ages is a Beyond the Sword thing. Very useful though.
TheDS Aug 08, 2008, 09:31 AM Additionally, you can kick off your first GA with just ONE Great Person in BtS. So get it.

Plus there's a world wonder that increases Golden Age length by 50%. :D (8 -> 12 turns)
TheDS Aug 08, 2008, 05:48 PM Doh! I forgot that MoM was BtS. It's rare that I kick off a GA unless I have MoM - it comes in at just the right time to maximize the effect of an early GA.
Virtual Alex Aug 08, 2008, 06:58 PM I am a mac user T_T
