I started playing civ again a fortnight ago, and today I realized that the little evolution intro screen thingi doesn't play anymore when I start a new game. I hadn't noticed it until today, but now that I have it sort of bugging me. Whatever happened to it?

Maybe you turned movies off in graphics options?

That was the first thing I checked, though I always liked to watch the little videos when wonders built and such

I am not sure when it started but I get it too. Sometimes it plays the movie, sometimes it acts like it is loading a saved game with the green bar and the helmet.

Hi,

You could look in the civilization ini file, there's an option in there to turn them off (although that may be what the graphics options bit changes)

Is it because you play a 'custom game' instead of 'play now'?

I think that just means you've played the game too much :P

I always play custom games instead of play now. (What I find amusing is I can set up a custom game and launch it in about 30 secs because it remembers all my settings, and play now takes me a while to get through all those screens. :p) And on custom games, sometimes it plays and sometimes it doesn't.
