When i go to play Civilization i get an error that says "This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found." I downloaded the .dll file but what do i do with it? I really wanna play this game. I looked at other threads and there are a ton of people who got it from direct2drive with this same issue PLEASE HELP!

Place this DLL in the directory on your computer where you installed the game. The default path is:

/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4

You should now be able to play the game (barring any other errors).

I'm curious as to where you downloaded the DLL from. Also, if you do a search for the filename on your computer, what results does it yield? I have a copy in my /Windows/system32 folder too for instance.

The file says it was created February 15, 2003, so I am assuming its a basic Windows file, not one shipped with Civilization IV.
