For example, on this screenshot (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/4/9/4/4/0/french_cannons_and_natives_original.jpg) we can see Fort Frontenac which seems to occupy 3 squares out of 9 just for buildings.

On this screenshot (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/4/9/4/4/0/wooded_fort_original.jpg) unnamed city is simply humongous.

This one (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/4/9/4/4/0/port_city_original.jpg) looks very large too.

What do you think? Maybe it would be possible to merge two or more closely-settled colonies (like these (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/4/9/4/4/0/colonies.jpg) or even these (http://www.civfanatics.com/gallery/files/4/9/4/4/0/french_forts_original.jpg)) to create one huge aglomeration / metropolis?

If this is really so, I believe we have largest improvement in Civ/Col history ever.

Nah, it's just the graphics extending over neighbouring tiles, but effectively the city is still contained in the center tile. Big cities in regular can do that too, maybe to a lesser extent. In Final Frontier Mod, a star system seems to occupy many squares, but it really doesnt.

I'm quite sure about this because of the above and because it would be quite a change from what we know without a good reason (I mean, huge agglomerations in the America's 1500-1800? eh? )
