Sorry if this has been covered, but I have a few questions about modding on a mac. I'm brand-new to Civ 4 and not terribly tech-savvy. If I want to add civ gold, do I download the same file as PC folks? (BTS Civ Gold 4.0) I want to get as many civs as possible. Or, is there another file for Mac users? Also, would any of the Civ Gold mods work for me? (vanilla, warlords, bts) I see instructions for mac with civ gold 3.0, (i think) which involves downloading BB Edit. Am I on the right track or way off in left field? I know that .exe usually refers to PCs, and it seems that the program 7s or whatever is a PC program...Sorry to be a pain, but I want to do some modding, and I just don't know how to start. Please take pity on a poor Mac noob. :)

Depending on what version of cIV you have (vanilla or warlords expansion) you can download the appropriate version here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=263172)

And the fixes for gold are here (post 8) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=186917) w/out a need for BBedit. If you need help installing the fixes just ask.

And welcome to CFC!

Hi. Welcome :wavey:

The main information about getting CIV Gold to run is in this thread.

As far as I recall, Civ Gold downloads as a .7z file. You can unzip it using EZ 7z for OS X - find EZ 7z here (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19139).

When you have expanded it you should have a folder called CIV Gold3.7. Drop that folder into your ~/Documents/Civilization IV/MODS/ folder.

You should not need to edit any files yourself, as I have done it for you. Download the set of 8 modified files that I posted in post #8 in the above thread and use them to replace the corresponding files in the CIV Gold mod folder. You should then be able to load the mod from the Advanced->Load a Mod menu in Civ4.
