View Full Version : What Evolutionary Stage are you most looking forward to?
salty mud Aug 24, 2008, 12:45 PM Personally, I am most looking forward to the Tribal and Space phases. Having a tribe of creatures sounds like great fun, especially when you can interract with other tribes and hunt them down! The Space phase is obviously just plain awesome - who doesn't want to blast enemy planets to bits with your own Death Star!?
leonel Aug 24, 2008, 12:47 PM It's a mix between Civilization and Space. Civilization 'cause then I'll be able to create my own units. Space because then I'll be able to put to the test that every planet is never the same.
a space oddity Aug 24, 2008, 02:04 PM They all are great, for different reasons. :D
Cell because it looks like simple fun.
Creature because of the atmosphere, they have done wonders with the lighting. And of course the crazy creatures, and their interactions.
Tribal for the heroic stories that will surely come naturally in that stage.
Civ because you really need to start thinking what you want for the rest of the game (from what I've heard, Space is going to be hard those gameplay related bonuses might be really helpful at that stage)
Space for its sheer endlessness.
Pushed to choose one, I'd have to say Space.
salty mud Aug 24, 2008, 02:53 PM Oh God... Only 12 days to go in Europe now! Just got a shedload of coursework to be done by then, but after it's just plain-sailing!
A whole weekend of Spore to myself!
Slightly off-topic, but I can't wait!!!
BrendanM Aug 24, 2008, 06:53 PM Space.
Something about destroying primitive cultures sounds fun to me...
GoodGame Aug 25, 2008, 06:54 AM Tribe phase sounds like it has the most potential, and I think there you get to design clothing and tools (or eventually you will, I suspect) on top of playing with your creatures.
Civ phase because of course you design almost everything.
Space just for kicks, but I think it will play more like a cross between Star Trek:TOS and Populous then 4X in space, so I may not enjoy it as much.
salty mud Aug 25, 2008, 07:32 AM The cellular phase doesn't seem to popular. The reviews seem to say that the cell phase is the most fun, because it is so simple but addictive!
Popcornlord Aug 25, 2008, 08:55 AM Very hard choice, as I'm looking foward to them all, but I'd have to say space and tribal. They just seem coolest.
cubsfan6506 Aug 25, 2008, 12:22 PM Definitly space.

I know! It's criminal that you Europeans get it sooner than North America! But then again most of the development supposedly took place in Europe so it's only fair that you guys get it first.
salty mud Aug 25, 2008, 02:20 PM And 99% of games are released in NA before here in Europe! It's about time we got something before you!
If it makes you happy, on the Friday I shall post my experiances with the game so far, and tell you if it's lived up to the hype. (which it will have) ;)

I end my post with humility and you rub my face in the dirt! You'll get yours! I'll destroy your planet with my Imperial Corvids!

Oh no... help me... :scared:
:p
But seriously, I simply cannot wait to explore the galaxy! Is it true that earth is in the game? You just have to find it? That would be very difficult indeed.

It was in, at least according to a Will Wright presentation a while ago. It had all the planets and Mr Wright tried terraforming Mars. It was a year ago though but I don't think they would have taken it out. Take a look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQFDlQ3gAVs&feature=related
Check out 3:43
Jerrymander Aug 25, 2008, 08:36 PM Tribal, really. Cell/Creature might be too RPG-like for my tastes, and space might be too big.
King of Town Aug 27, 2008, 05:00 AM Cell looks like a lot of fun. I had a good time with that game that was supposed to be just like the cell phase someone posted a while back. Wave or something. But who isn't going to like space? Sooooo big, and starting fights will be a lot of fun.
salty mud Aug 27, 2008, 05:09 AM I found some fantastic E3 videos which you might not have seen. These might help you make your decision. :)

Sorry, no Cell Stage I'm afraid.
King of Town Aug 27, 2008, 08:00 PM those are cool. I haven't seen it, but it would be kind of cool if sometimes if there were civs ahead of you. Like how you can pick on creatures while you are in the tribal phase there would be other tribes doing the same to you in creature phase.
salty mud Aug 28, 2008, 03:06 AM I have been wondering the same thing. Will you see other creatures roaming about during the Civilization Phase? Will tribes be seen on other planets in the Space Phase?
lord_joakim Aug 28, 2008, 11:04 AM ALL OF THEM! :D e
Fuschia Aug 28, 2008, 04:26 PM I'm looking forward to tribal and civilization most, because they seem the most detached from individual level control. Looking at the space preview, it seems more like your going to spend most of your time flying around single spaceships, instead of actually building an interstellar empire.
Lord_Iggy Sep 01, 2008, 03:29 PM Well, I'm looking forward to all of it, but because I've done so much with the CC, I'm just slightly less excited about the creature phase.
I plan to play the game well into the Space Stage once, then play another game slowly, doing a regular report on my progress, in storylike fashion. Sort of like the Civilization AARs that I used to do, before I became an NESer.
TyranusBonehead Sep 03, 2008, 12:27 PM Space is the Place
Puppeteer Sep 04, 2008, 03:26 PM Creature, tribe and civ are what grabbed my attention, although now creature sounds like it might be too limited and civ may be more complex than I like as far as creating content.
Space is a very interesting concept, but I don't yet see myself spending a lot of time playing space.
Actually, given my work and travel schedule and lack of gaming laptop I don't see myself playing much of anything besides cell phone Monopoly.
Ball Lightning Sep 06, 2008, 07:45 PM Creature and Space stages are the best (for me), as creature is when you really create your creature and space is very big and awe inspiring with good game play and many good missions.
Civ stage is good for people who like to make buildings, planes and ships. Not so much my thing though.
SuperBeaverInc. Sep 06, 2008, 07:52 PM Space stage is definitely the one I'm looking forward to the most. Want to fly around in the space ship and unleash my evilness on the universe
