Does anybody know if there will be several language versions or only one multi-language Version where you can select the language when installing?

Because if the is a German version I will have to order my copy in UK ... and wait 3 days longer for the delivery :(

If it's like Civ4, there will be a single multi-language version.

I hope so, I like nmy games in French. Surprisingly, the jeuxvidéo.com preview's screenies had english dialogs... which makes me a bit worried.:coffee:

If I were a developer, I'd translate the game's text to other languages once I'm certain the English content is final. :p

Funny...
I'm a Frenchman, but I always play my games in English. It helps for online discussion and keeps my English speaking ability at a decent level, 20 years after leaving school.

Plus, French translations are often laughable: for instance, the "expansive" trait has been translated to "accessible", which pretty much means the same in both languages but has little to do with the expansion concept.

Not to mention that some English terms have no exact French counterparts. "Swordsman" has no definite French translation and has been absurdly translated by "spadassin", which derives from Italian "spada" (sword) and means "hired assassin" (who uses a sword). :goodjob:

I obviously don't need to play my games in English to keep my English going...

I like my games in English despite being a native Spanish speaker myself. Translations are made by Spanish companies, and there's always language issues, things you can't always properly translate (not to mention the Spanish from Spain isn't the one spoken throughout Latin America). And it gets plain horrible when there's spoken movies involved. If the game originally has quality voice acting, it's completely lost when replaced by the lines of comparatively mediocre dubbers.

Same deal with films in general. But instead I prefer the audio in its original language, which isn't always English. Dubbers can't hold a candle to real actors.

Hey! I registered to the forums to ask the same question. Then I noticed your topic and got my answer. I'm in the same situation. I live in Germany and like to play the games in English. Cheers for the single multi-language support!
